WWE Veterans Bound for Retirement

by yak max

WWE’s roster is thinning out. Veterans are beginning to talk retirement plans. Fairly soon, we may see some familiar faces leave the ranks of WWE’s elite. Some of our favorite veteran stars may be hanging up the boots in the coming years.

Rey Mysterio has been a mainstay on American television since the Monday Night Wars era. Mysterio was one of the staples of the cruiserweight division in WCW. Mysterio has seen success in WWE having been the smallest World Heavyweight Champion in the company’s history. Mysterio has been no stranger to knee complications. He’s had multiple injuries and surgeries on the area due to his high-flying style. He’s forced himself to slow down in recent years and cannot seem to stay active on the roster as the injuries continue to pile up. At age 39, will we soon see Mysterio call it quits in the ring? Will Rey Mysterio finish up his career in the coming years? As a fan, I would be saddened but know that Mysterio cannot keep this up much longer.

Kane saw his WWE debut in 1995. No gimmick stuck for long until he dawned the mask and became the storied brother of The Undertaker. He’s stayed with the WWE ever since. We’ve seen Kane conquer mountains in the singles and tag team divisions and h’es held multipl titles in the WWE. In recent years, Kane has spoken about his ideal final match and how he’d like to leave when his time comes. At age 47, this time may be sooner than later. Kane has slowed down a great deal in the ring and may very well be in the closing stages of his career. As a sure name to eventually enter the WWE Hall of Fame, Kane has been one of WWE’s workhorses for many years now. It will be sad to see him leave but there is a silver lining in every cloud. He’ll leave behind a legacy or brutality and force.

One can only speculate if we’ve seen the last of The Undertaker. His time may have come to an end at Wrestlemania 30 when his infamous streak was finally broken by Brock Lesnar. As usual with Undertaker, we’ve heard no word of official retirement. This leaves us pondering if he’s finally done with the world of wrestling or if he may hang on for a few more years. We never know what is in store for The Undertaker. His career’s fate is as mysterious to us as his in-ring persona.

These men are nothing short of legends in WWE. We’ll say goodbye with heavy hearts when the time comes but we can all be happy knowing these men gave us their all for many years for the sake of our entertainment. WWE will not be the same without these iconic figures but change is inevitable.
