The one thing an athlete can never beat is time. Five years from now, will John Cena still be WWE’s main attraction at the age of 41? It’s hard to say if his body will hold up. The same can really be said about anyone else in the WWE over 30.
Daniel Bryan will most definitely still be around in 5 years but will Triple H give him the keys to the car and let him go? I highly doubt it. Dolph ZIggler is another guy who comes to mind who’s a top tier talent but he’s done such a horrible job of playing the backstage political game that I’m not sure he’ll even be around in 5 years. Not to mention he’s surprisingly already 33 years old.
This list is compiled of 5 guys who are incredibly special. These guys have the potential to carry the WWE into the next generation. Not to mention they’re all under the age of 29.
1. Bray Wyatt
RIght now, at the age of 26, Bray is beginning to break out as a superstar. He recently had an incredible match with Daniel Bryan at the Royal Rumble and is slated to feud with John Cena at Mania. If the WWE does decide to put Bray against Cena at Mania, that would be a HUGE sign of how much confidence the WWE has in Wyatt.
His character is so dark, twisted, demented and unique, you can’t help but get sucked in every time you see him. Bray Wyatt is a special, special talent that we’re lucky to watch. As the youngest guy on this list, we’re sure to see Wyatt take the WWE by storm for the next 10+ years.
2. Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns is a 28 year old man beast. As the enforcer of The Shield, Reigns has been dominant. He had a breakout performance at this years Royal Rumble and he appears to be the initial breakout star of The Shield.
Reigns has the look, size and power to be a real force in the WWE for years to come. It looks like it’s only a matter of time before the WWE breaks up The Shield to see what Reigns can do on his own. I hope you’re as excited as I am.
3. Cody Rhodes
It’s hard to believe but Cody Rhodes has been a part of the WWE main roster for the better part of 7 years. At the tender age of 28, he’s an incredibly young veteran. Rhodes’ in ring ability is bar none. The man can simply ‘go’ inside the squared circle.
Rhodes has already gone through a bunch of gimmick changes in his early career, so he has a great understanding of what it takes to be successful in the business. I see the former Intercontinental Champion’s stock rising in 2014. It’s only a matter of time before he’s a main event player.
4. Dean Ambrose
When The Shield first debuted, the 28 year old Ambrose was the guy everyone picked to be the breakout star. Even though the spotlight has shifted to Reigns, Ambrose is a sleeping giant. When The Shield eventually parts ways, you’re going to see a demented, twisted side to Ambrose that you’ve yet to witness.
He’s a treat to watch inside and outside of the ring. Ambrose stock may be on the decline right now but make no mistake about it, he’s going to play a big part in the future of the WWE.
5. Big E.
Vince McMahon loves big powerhouse guys. Enter Big E. Vince has already shown confidence in Big E. by putting the Intercontinental Title on him so early on in his career. The man’s only 27 years old but is already considered a freak of nature inside the ring.
Big E. is your prototypical powerhouse who has the opportunity of one day becoming a Heavyweight Champion. Like him or not, Big E. will more than likely play a pivotal role in the WWE for the next decade
