Throughout recorded history, we have found that when it comes to anything that human beings cannot control, control it these same silly humans will try to do. While the entirety of The Wiccan Rede is a lovely piece of poetry, the actual and most important part of that text and the part which more people should bother to heed is as follows:
“An’ Harm Ye None, Do What Ye Will.”
These are words that a whole lot of other, more readily acceptable mainstream beliefs are not willing to look at, and they are not willing to look at it from another perspective for one reason – because it negates everything else that they have been taught, and more, everything that they are teaching to others that is their own truth. Witches, I have found, are some of the most loving, caring and compassionate people this planet and all of humanity has the very luck of having here. Unfortunately, what we are shown about these people, these witches, is that they do some very strange things, with other strange people, and that anytime a person considered a witch shows up, strange things happen to happen. (And yes, strange things do indeed happen when I show up anywhere.) The only thing that anyone mainstream thinks at that point is that they have the upper hand and that upper hand comes in the form of harsh judgment and more, the wagging of gossiping tongues (they should stop that tongue wagging because it is one of the 7 deadly sins).
That we cannot stop these strange things from happening is one thing, but that anyone tries to label it as being the fault of anyone “Wicca,” is ridiculous.
No one asks what these people really do, but I asked, and some of the most wonderful people on this planet are the sort who cast spells, who speak to the dead (in my case, they talk to me, first), who read Tarot cards, who analyze the astrological charts of people, who use a pendulum, who know things before we are “supposed” to know them. From my own experiences with Wiccans, Pagans, Earth-Based types who are as Maoli (Native) as I am and the like, I have found out that it is not that these beliefs are bad, but that someone else, a long time ago, decided for the masses that no woman was going to be in charge and that the big giant guy who lives above the clouds, should anyone at all go against that thinking, was going to send everyone to hell with a quickness.
These beliefs, as we have been taught for generations now, are satanic, are connected to evil, are things and ways of being that are not needed in our society, are anything but evil. There will always be people, no matter where we go, even if where we go is to church, who are not the greatest people on the planet, but to take an entire group of people and label us all as being inherently evil is dangerous, and it is so because it is horribly ignorant. People end up dead for their ignorance, for their arrogance. If we would bother, collectively, to stop listening and taking on as our truth, the things that mostly men in overpriced suits, who preach in over-blown, arrogant buildings, tell us and expect us to accept as our truth (because that is what many of them are paid well to do), we might be able to do things which actually honor the truth that really is ours.
If we would stop for one moment, realize that our reason for being is connected to Love and acceptance, not only of those who are just like us, but more, those who are not like us at all, we would see, also, a bigger portion of us knowing, for real, that we are meant to be here for one purpose – to Love. If we cannot see past the differences to the similarities, we are doomed. Seeing our similarities takes a little bit of being able to also think in a different manner than ever we have before, at least for the most of us.
Seeing our similarities would cause us to do something called forming an original thought. Really, we need more original thinkers, because thinking the same way for so long is why we are in the predicament that we collectively find ourselves in right now.
Really, it is not a sin to love the skin you are in, even if that skin sometimes wears a black velvet ritual cloak.
