Why You Should Eat Carbs: You should eat good carbs. Good carbs are all healthy foods. According to the Harvard School of Health, the amount of carbs in your diet is much less important than the type of carbs you are eating. That means you can eat a ton of healthy carbs and still lose weight. Carbohydrates are converted to glucose and this supplies your body with energy. Some diets do prohibit carbs completely, but most simply prohibit bad carbs.
What Foods are Good Slow Burning Carbs? Good carbohydrates are generally low on the glycemic index and include foods like dark leafy greens, zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms, garlic, fresh berries, tropical fruits, and stone fruits. Low carb or whole grain pasta, brown rice, and whole oats are also okay. Most nuts, many beans, yogurts, and cheeses are also okay. Coffee, tea, and water are the best beverages to drink. These complex carbs are also known as slow burning carbs.
You don’t necessarily have to eat wheat bread which is often made from ground flour. Try something like quinoa or brown rice. If you do want bread, eat only 100 percent whole grain bread.

Why Do People Think Carbs Make Them Fat? Well, there are good and bad carbs. Many people who cut carbs from their diet because they are overweight, are eating bad carbs. Anyone who doesn’t work out or get any exercise and eats white bread, pasta, baked goods, soda, white rice, potatoes, and sugary cereal is probably going to be overweight. They probably haven’t done much research or actually talked to a nutritionist. Blaming carbs for weight issues makes sense if you don’t know the difference between the healthy carbs that your body needs and total junk food. How Will Healthy Carbs Speed Up My Metabolism? Bad carbs like white bread and white rice actually slow down your metabolism by being quickly broken down and absorbed into the bloodstream. They cause your pancreas to produce insulin. This quick “glucose” will actually cause your blood sugar to drop even though you just ate!
Good carbs have the opposite effect. These complex carbohydrates which are harder to break down, don’t cause a rapid increase of insulin or glucose. The result is that your blood sugar stays at an even keel and your metabolism is increased! There are many diets for cancer patients that suggest completely getting rid of bad carbs to starve the cancer cells. In fact, many people have heard that cancer loves sugar. This is true in a way. However, it is the glucose that cancer appears to feed on. Avoiding spikes in glucose is the general idea behind the good carb diets.
Before cutting all carbs from your diet, do some research and you will realize that some of the healthiest people in the world do include carbs in their diets, they just don’t eat bad carbs. Athletes need carbohydrates for their body to function properly.
