First off yes, I am a female who enjoys watching wrestling. My love for wrestling started when I was younger than I could remember. I started watching World Wrestling Entertainment when it was the the World Wrestling Federation. I used to watch with my father and loved that it was something that we could do together. I remember sitting in our living room thinking that it was so cool what these men and women did. I used to dream that in some capacity I could work for the company.
Yes I understand and know that wrestling is fake. I know that the matches and the interviews are scripted. In that sense I compare watching the WWE to watching any reality show. Come on people we know that reality television is in fact not reality. My love for the WWE started young but at twenty five years old I still enjoy watching. My favorite time to watch was during the attitude era. This was a time that the writing and wrestling was the best. The story lines were great and they were so well written. When I think back some of my favorite wrestlers were Stone Cold, Shawn Micheals and Triple H. Another amazing time for the company was the war between WCW and WWE. I loved watching both programs to see what would happen next.
During the attitude era there was an amazing group that I absolutely loved. Degeneration X was not only funny but every girl had a crush on them. They made you laugh, cry and scream at the television. Then came a woman that scared the crap out of me. Chyna was a woman that was more like a beast, she not only fought the women but she fought men and beat some of them.
When I think of where the WWE is now, I think that it could be much better. I think that some of the story lines are amazing (the Wyatt Brothers and Daniel Bryan) and some of them are things that can be written off (Fandango’s love triangle and the Rosebuds). Putting that all aside I still love watching the WWE, the story lines that are good really pull you into the show. I watch WWE every monday night as WWE Raw is one of my favorite shows.
I think there are many things that the WWE can do differently to make the show that much better. Sometimes I feel as though some of the story lines are taken way too far. But one thing that always draws me back to the WWE is all of the charities that they help out. The Tribute to the troops, Be a star campaign, make a wish and the special olympics are just a handful of the great causes the WWE helps every year.
The WWE may not be everyones cup of tea but it something that I love watching and would love to one day be involved in even if it is just in a small way.
