If you are like me, you like to save money. I hate to buy anything at regular price when I can get it on sale. I am a coupon-cutting, sale-shopping, bargain-grabbing diva. So, it is no surprise that I love consignment shops. Although some people like to point out all the negative things about shopping at consignment shops, I have found that the positives by far outweigh the negatives. The following are my reasons for shopping consignment.
Of course, the price of items is my number one reason for shopping at consignment shops. As I said earlier, I hate to pay whole price for anything. Consignment shops allow me to purchase a large quantity of items like books and clothes for a discounted price.
I also get another plus from shopping at my local consignment shop. Because I also sell items I can no longer use at the consignment shop, I am able to get an extra discount on my purchases. One time, I was able to purchase a whole bag of clothes for less than $10.00.
Who said that consignment shops only sell second-hand items? I have made several major finds at Bizzy B’s, my local consignment shop. I have found a new snake-skin leather jacket, a new puffer vest, and several beautiful shirts with the price tags still on them. I have also been able to purchase scarves, chairs, and other props for my photography business at the consignment shop.
Support Local Economy
Although I live in a small town and there aren’t as many businesses in the area, I like to shop locally as much as possible. Why? I realize that the money I spend in my own community returns to my community. So, when I head off to my favorite consignment shop, I remember that I am not just helping my wallet. I am also helping my community survive.
Help the Environment
Shopping at the local consignment shop also helps my environment. Because these are clothes and other items that would normally end up in the trash or the local landfill, I am helping to keep them from doing this.
Shopping at the consignment shop encourages recycling. Once a person sells their clothes at a consignment shop and make some money off of those former treasures, they are more likely to continue to recycle items. I know selling my items at a consignment shop convinced me that it was way to make money off of items I can no longer use and to help the environment.
I love to save money. So, shopping consignment is something that I am proud of.
