Eastern Idaho is home to several good meat processing plants, also known as Butcher Shops. There is a significant number of rural livestock breeders who raise beef, pork, chicken, and sheep. There is also a large populous of game hunters who turn to a good butcher to dress their game. With such a large variety of animals being raised for human consumption there is a need for good butchers.
Having been raised in a hunting family and having a grandfather and other relatives who made their livelihood in the dairy or beef industry, and having raised a fair amount of livestock myself and having hunted and having gutted a deer I am experienced in the use of a butcher. There are several good butchers in my area. Here is a list of the main ones:
Ball Storage & Ice, LLC
625 Pancheri Dr., Idaho Falls, ID 83402
C & D Choice Meats
3636 Main St. Iona, ID 83427
Doug’s Wholesale Meat

Glenwood Smoked Products Inc.
4491 N Haroldson Dr., Idaho Falls, ID
Great Western Frozen Foods Inc

Jones Meat and Food Services Inc.

4027 E Lincoln Road, Idaho Falls 83401
I haven’t had personal dealings with all of these, but the ones I have dealt with have done a good job. Ball’s Storage came out and butchered our Bull. They were out the next day after calling them. The owner of Doug’s Meat offed to let us live rent free in his rental house after our home burned down. He is a nice person. Of course I couldn’t let him do that and so he received a check for the rent each month. You will find real nice hometown hospitality at Doug’s Meat.
