While native to New Orleans, Mardi Gras celebrations aren’t limited to crescent city. In San Diego, the largest and most vibrant parties occur on Fat Tuesday, the culmination of the Mardi Gras festivities. So, dust off that mask, warm up your bead throwing arm, and get ready to celebrate.
Hillcrest Fat Tuesday
Celebrate Fat Tuesday in Hillcrest and join one of the largest LGBT Mardi Gras parties in the country.An outrageous masquerade parade will start off this years Fat Tuesday festivities from 6:00 PM-6:45 PM. Although the parade is free and open to the public, Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday remains a ticketed 21+ event.

Gaslamp Mardi Gras
Billed as the biggest Mardi Gras celebration West of New Orleans, Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp is expected to draw over 40,000 people in 2014. Headlined by DJ Snoopadelic (A.K.A. Snoop Dogg, Snoop Lion), the block party will host a Mardi Gras parade, 5 stages, stilt walkers, show girls, fire dancers, and a whole lot more. General admission tickets are $30 while a VIP pass will run $85.
