I find it amazing how in today’s society we can find anything we need within a matter of seconds. Whether its with a click of the mouse, or the pushing of one button or another, we can find anything. If I want to find what the Kardashains are up to, I can turn the TV on. If i want to listen to the new Eminem song I can turn on the radio, or my ipod. Even if I need to find out who Napoleon was and what he did, all I have to do is Google it. Point being, everything can be found now in days with relative ease, especially thanks to all the wonderful technology. Yet, there is something missing, something much deeper. Find it yet? If not, I will tell you: God. Yes, God, has disappeared from our society. The Alpha, the omega, the one essential element to all of creation has vanished. Nietzsche predicted this. We are just living up to his prediction.
Why is it that God has disappeared? Simple. We just find things to replace Him with. Whether it be sports, music, drugs, sex, etc, all of these things and more have taken His place as the no.1 part of our lives. Even before our family and friends. Don’t believe me? Then let me ask you this: why do 70% of all marriages suffer from infidelity? Because sex is one of our gods and we must have it, even with someone other than our “beloved.” Why do we all want to grow up to be lawyers and doctors and businessmen? Because those occupations tend to make the most money, even as immoral as they may be. We take all these false idols and fill our lives with them because we can’t find what we are looking for. We cannot find it because we are so blinded by all the hype and craze behind the American way of life: more money, more sex, and more food.
What we need to do is return to the essentials: God, and His way of life. We need to go to church, go to confession, nurture our faith, and live by God’s rules. He created us in His image, not Justin Beiber’s. Let us be humble, live modestly, and love everyone, always. Lets bring God back to life so that we can live more fulfilled. God is the answer to eternal happiness, which is what we all want, what we are all looking for. I found Him, and I hope you will to.
