Get LIPO 7 and MIC injections here.
LIPO 7 and MIC injections were first developed in 1950s France, under the umbrella term mesotherapy. Unlike ingested drugs or controversial injections like HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), Lipo 7 injections are designed to enhance fat loss at the place of injection.
Much of the controversy with these injections lies in there claims. Some products are marketed as “Lipodissolve”, which regulators say is misleading and too similar to the surgical treatment (and more proven therapy) called liposuction.
Compounding pharmacies, salons and a few doctor’s offices allow these injections to be used in an off-label manner. Further, these drugs have never been proven safe and effective per the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Multiple clinical trials are underway for this therapy as of early 2014, but results and safety will take many years to evaluate.
LIPO 7 Injections:
A grouping of four to ten ingredients, usually including 50 milligrams of phosphatidylcholine. Phosphatidylcholine is known to reduce adipocyte (fat cell) proliferation. According to one small pilot study, seven patients benefited from significant localized fat reduction. It is imperative to note that six of the patients withdrew from the trial, presumably due to adverse local effects. The treatment did not have systemic side effects.
Other ingredients include low-dose amino acids, inositol and chromium. The doses of these additional products isn’t firm and their efficacy in weight loss has not been established. Inositol is a compound shown to be beneficial in unrelated diseases like mood disorders, and its “weight loss” potential may be attributed to its energy enhancing properties. Chromium has glucose disposal properties (more efficient use of ingested sugars) but this often refers to studies done in mouse models, not humans.
B12 injections have not been proven to incur weight loss in human studies. The injection doses are much higher than the recommended daily allowance per the FDA.
MIC injections include methionine, inositol and choline. This is a more basic version of LIPO 7 injections.
The Take Away:
This lifestyle enhancement process can have risk. Many doctors have not even heard of the treatments. Fat does have beneficial properties in moderation, including skin and organ protection. The injection of this product may actually “melt fat away”, but experts worry about this process. Necrosis, or tissue death, may lead to bruising and other unwanted side effects.
