When you’re on a diet, it’s not always easy to avoid eating at night. You may still get real hungry and just want a snack. Well, there is good news. It is possible to eat a snack at night and still maintain your weight. Just choose snacks that won’t pack on the pounds or incite your cravings. Here are some healthy snacks:
Dark chocolate doesn’t have the high sugar content found in traditional chocolate. It provides antioxidants that lower blood pressure and improve insulin sensitivity. It also contains healthy fats, which slows sugar absorption in the blood. It is best to only eat an ounce of your favorite dark chocolate (70% cacao or greater).
Frozen blueberries are packed with antioxidants. They also have a small amount of calories. This means you can consume a large amount with few calories.They also contain no fat, sodium, or cholesterol. Blueberries help improve brain function, digestion, and heart health. You can eat blueberries alone or consider a blueberry and banana smoothie.
Kale chips have little fat and calories. It also provides vitamins and carotenoids, not found in regular potato chips. Kale chips taste better when they are freshly-baked. First, pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees. Get rid of the thick stems. Add kale to a small amount of extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and pepper. You may want to add vinegar too. Spread the kale out on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-17 minutes or until crispy.
