The packaging: Weruva Funky Chunky Chicken Soup with Pumpkin is a canned cat food that comes in two sizes. 3oz cans or 5.5oz cans. Both sizes have pop top type cans where no can opener is needed. It is impossible to find this food in the regular pet stores so I by it from Chewy.com by the case.
The Food: When you open the can you will see what appears to be shredded white meat chicken. This is not chicken mush like most canned cat foods. There are no byproducts. What you see is what you get. In addition to the Chicken you will see chunks of pumpkin, and carrot, and whole peas. The food is packed with plenty of water and a little potato starch to give it the appearance of gravy or soup instead of just water. Also included are all the vitamins and supplements that cats need to keep them healthy. .
How much to feed: I feed Tinkerbelle three meals a day and about 3 oz of food for each meal. Your cat may need more or less than this depending on his age and activity level.
My thoughts: I think this is really healthy food for my cat. I love that it has some pumpkin in it, because our vet wanted us to supplement with pumpkin anyway so that way I do not need to add anything. Based on how well Tink is doing with his health I am satisfied that this food combined with others we are feeding are a great benefit to his health. He does tend to leave the peas but there are not too many in there. I sort of like that they leave the ingredients whole so the cat can eat what they want. If they were all mashed together in a mush like most foods, the cat would eat it regardless. I have noticed that he will leave the peas and then a half hour or so later he will come back for them.
How Well the Cat Likes it: Tinkerbelle loves this food. He tends to first lap up all the gravy. He then chews up most of the chicken and pumpkin along with the carrots. He leaves a few of the peas, but usually comes back for them later. Tink does not have any stomach upsets with this food and has very little hairball activity that involves regurgitating any of this food
Cost: At Chewy.com a case of 24 3oz cans is currently $28.99 and a case of 24 5.5oz cans is $39.99
Final thoughts and Rating
I will give this food 5 stars because you just can not beat the quality. Tinkerbelle is healthy and happy and that is all that matters to me. Besides that he loves the food!
