You weren’t fast enough and all the tickets to your favorite band’s concert have sold out. Or maybe you just found out that the concert you’d been dying to attend has been canceled. Either of these scenarios may upset you but don’t wallow in self-pity. There is no need to yell angrily at the world. Instead it’s time to think creatively about how you can still have that concert experience without attending a concert. Grab your friends and create new memories at your “fake concert”.
- Sporting events
There are many similarities between a concert and a sporting event. You want loud music? Check. You want to be surrounded by like-minded cheering fans? Check. You enjoy repeatedly sitting down and then standing up? Check. Want expensive food and drinks? Check and check!
Since sporting events have the same vibe as a concert the only thing missing is the music. Bring your headphones and tablet device along with you to the game. Feel free to spend the entire game watching the band’s videos on repeat. If you must watch the game at least keep those headphones on and keep listening to the band’s songs.
If you normally attend outdoor concerts by purchasing lawn seats then you’ll feel at home in a nightclub. You’ll be able to press yourself up against a multitude of strangers while bouncing around to loud music. You’ll also get the same puzzled looked when you break out your classic running man dance moves, but as someone famous once said “dance like nobody’s watching”!
For this “fake concert” you have to befriend the DJ. Ask the DJ to play only the band’s songs for an hour. Or challenge the DJ to see how many times the they can mix the band’s songs into their existing playlists. This way you’ll get to hear your band’s music and the other club goers can still hear other groups.
Part of the fun of attending concerts live is being able to sing at the top of your lungs along to your favorite songs. The only other place where society has deemed this behavior acceptable is at karaoke. In fact at karaoke the worse you are at singing the more popular you become.
For “fake concert karaoke” you and your friends can only select songs to sing from one band. Feel free to belt out those renditions of the songs of that artist. Remember to select songs from all the various records the band has released and jam the night away.
- House party
Missing the feeling of listening to your favorite band’s songs nice and loud? Crank the sound on your home speakers and party with your friends. Dance in a circle and let the music envelope you.
For that concert feel make sure your playlist only has the band’s songs. Put the playlist on shuffle and you won’t know what song will play next, just as if you were at their concert.
