Changing Up Drab Traditions

Even though traditional cookies are equally as delicious as these listed below, it wouldn’t hurt to but a nice spin on the norm for a change. If you happen to be looking for new dessert tactics and ideas, give these a try and see if for yourself.

Icebox Cookies

You will need:

-1 cup of butter
-1 cup of brown sugar
-1 cup of granulated sugar
-2 beaten eggs
-1 teaspoon of salt
-1 teaspoon of baking soda
-1 cup of the chopped nuts of your choice
-2 teaspoons of vanilla
-4 1/2 a cup of flour

Instructions:

If you’re looking for long lasting dough and ready to bake dough that can be stored for long periods of time, icebox cookies are right for you. To begin these lovely treats, start by creaming the butter along with the granulated, white and brown sugars. Once creamed you can add the flour and proceed to mix well with spoon and then your hands to it combines well. Then shape the dough is a cylinder or log form and wrap it completely with wax paper. Next, allow it to sit in the freezer overnight. When it’s nice and frozen, cut it into preferably thick slices and bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees. If you don’t want to bake all the dough at once, it will keep fresh in the freezer for a few months.

Giant Seven Layer Cookie

You will need:

-1/2 a cup of melted margarine or butter
-1 1/2 a cup of graham cracker crumbs
-1 can of condensed milk
-1 package of chocolate morsels (6 ounces)
-1 package of butterscotch morsels (6 ounces)
-1 1/3 a cup of coconut
-1 cup of the chopped nuts of your choice

Instructions:

To start off your giant seven layer cookie, first combine and mix the butter/margarine with the graham cracker crumbs. Once they have been fused together well, press it to the bottom of a glass dish or pan evenly. Then proceed by pouring the condensed milk evenly over the graham cracker crumb crust. After that, pour the chocolate morsels evenly over the crumbs, then spread on the butterscotch morsels evenly, followed by the coconut, and lastly the chopped nuts you have chosen. After all the layers have been poured, carefully press down on the layers with your hands so they are compact. Then bake your huge cookie at 350 degrees for around 25 minutes or so, then cut it how you’d like and serve!

Twix Cookie Bars

You will need:

-35 pieces of caramel candies
-1/4 a cup of water
-1 box of shortbread cookies (close to 40 cookies total)
-2 packages of chocolate morsels (12 ounces a piece)

Instructions:

In beginning your Twix cookie bars, grab a saucepan and place it on the stove at medium heat. Pour in the water and caramel candies and stir them until the candies have melted. When that is completed, place your shortbread cookies flat, side by side on a ungreased cookie sheet and spoon a dab of melted caramel on each cookie and place in the refrigerator until the caramel is dry. While the cookies are cooling, melt the chocolate morsels however you prefer. Balance each cookie flat on a fork and dip them into the melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off. Once they have been dipped, the cookies can be placed on a sheet of wax paper to dry at room temperature which might take a few hours to ensure they set well.
