Want to wear a spring look to a 6 o’clock date? Hmm…it’s easy to end up looking washed out with pastel shades. The trick is to wear those flirty, spring-inspired colors but in the amped up version. As a professional makeup artist, I recommend that you choose a feature to highlight and go with it! Whatever your natural skin tones, start with clean, moisturized skin; pretty skin is always in-regardless of the season.
Shimmery Eye and Bold Pink Lips
Any skin tone can wear this evening makeup but it is especially lovely on olive, tan and brown skin tones. The overall goal is to soften the eyes with shimmer and provide a pop of color right on the lips. Here’s how to get it!
Apply your foundation and touch the skin with bronzer, just for subtle sparkle. In the crease of your eye or just above it, sweep on a matte brown or green eyeshadow in a medium shade.
Now apply metallic gold on the lower lid and blend the gold wear where it meets the green. Touch the gold eyeshadow under the eye. Apply black eyeliner to the top lash line and two coats of mascara. (For the eyeliner, get flirty with a slinky cat eye.)
Touch the cheeks with a soft red, peach or coral blush. I prefer cream blush but you could use powder too.
Line your lips with a light red lip liner. Fill in with a dark berry, strawberry or any pink with a red base. You look gorgeous!
Two Toned Eyes
For lighter skin tones, try a two-toned eye look that brings out the color of your eyes. Before you begin, coax your eyelashes to curl up using an eyelash curler.
Apply your foundation and touch just under your cheek bones with a medium pink shade. (Don’t be afraid to go a little darker for evening makeup.)
Line your lips with neutral liner and then apply a lipstick that highlights your lips’ natural colors. Dusky pink and apricot are often good choices.
Now for the eyes! Brush your brows up and out and then correct the brows with brow liner if you have gaps.
Cover the lower two thirds of your eye with mauve or pink eyeshadow. Line the top lid with brown eyeliner.
Apply blue eyeliner under the eye, right below the lash line and also to your water line.
Finish with brown or black mascara.
You are looking great and ready for a spring walk in the moonlight or a night at the orchestra!
