11-year old Sameer Davis went to a house down the street on his block in Western Africa and started wrapping toilet paper around it. While finishing up, the lady of the house opened the front door and hollered, “Stop, you little imp!”
Sameer ran home. Within five minutes, his mom received a telephone call. “Sameer, get in here!” commanded Mrs. Davis. As Sameer entered the kitchen, his mom told him, “I just got a call from Mrs. Teepee about you covering her house with toilet paper. You’re coming with me to rectify the situation now.”
As Mrs. Teepee opened her door, Mrs. Davis blurted, “My son has something to tell you.” “I’m sorry for causing this mess. I’ll clean it up,” stated Sameer.
Sameer then removed all of the toilet paper and paid Mrs. Teepee 10 dollars. Once Sameer and his mom came back home, she told him, “Five additional dollars are coming out of your allowance to reimburse us for our toilet paper.” While Sameer stood in the living room corner, his nine-year old brother Samoy taunted him, “Ah ha, you got in trouble.”
Sameer came out, punched Samoy in the chest hard then shoved him to the floor. Next the boys’ dad admonished Sameer, “Don’t attack him!” As Sameer began writing 300 sentences on notebook paper saying he would not hit Samoy again while standing in the corner, Mr. Davis told the crying Samoy, “Be nicer to your brother.”
Soon after going outside to play the next day, Sameer climbed a tree to slip a rope over the nearest branch. Once he came down, he walked over to a small brown domestic cat then kicked it, cut off one of its paws with his pocket knife and hanged it with the noose dangling from the tree nearby.
Sameer walked away, not knowing that someone witnessed what he did. Within a minute, the police arrived and arrested Sameer. Soon after he was booked, he was formally charged with felony animal abuse. Because Sameer had a juvenile history and was charged with a heinous crime, his bail was set at one hundred thousand bucks.
Ring. As Mr. Davis answered the phone, Sameer blurted, “Hi, Dad. I’m in jail for maiming and killing a cat. Please come bail me out.”
“Sorry son. You have caused too much trouble and your latest crime is too serious. I’m appalled at what you just did; besides, if you don’t face the consequences and get treatment, you will likely start hurting or killing other people and spend the rest of your life behind bars. You’re on your own,” Mr. Davis responded.
“Thanks a lot, Dad!” replied Sameer while hanging up. Many weeks later, he was convicted and ordered to serve 15 months in a juvenile detention facility. He and the other residents had to spend much of the day working and their food was mediocre. Also, Sameer had trouble getting along with some fellow residents.
“Don’t take so much food, you greedy pig,” said Pug Zamir as Sameer put food on his plate in the cafeteria. “I only took two rolls,” defended Sameer. “From now on, you only take one,” barked Pug. “Screw you,” retorted Sameer. Pug put his tray down and shoved Sameer while saying, “Watch what you say to me, dude.”
After Sameer stepped forward and socked Pug in the jaw with a hard left cross, the two combatants were separated by two guards, with one of them saying, “That’s enough.” Soon after the boys were each placed in solitary confinement to cool off, Sameer fretted, “I hate this place. There are too many penalties and the staff has no regard for us.”
Elsewhere in Western Africa…
Camual Camel was a 10-year old boy with a giant heart. He was generous to everyone and had compassion toward those less fortunate than him. While walking on a street near an abandoned building, he noticed a man who looked and smelled homeless. “Do you want some food?” Cam asked him. “Yes,” replied the man.
“Here you go,” said Cam while handing the man 10 dollars. “Thank you,” the vagrant said before departing for food. Watching him buy hot dogs from a street vendor nearby, Cam thought, “It’s good that I helped him get some grub; however, it is only one meal. He’s going to need a steady supply of food on a daily basis plus a place to stay so that he can have shelter and bathe.”
After reflecting on this, he turned his thoughts into action. He helped raised funds totaling tens of thousands of dollars for a homeless persons center through community donations, fund raisers held at his school and bake sales involving cookies, brownies, pies, fruit punch and lemonade. Once the center was established, Cam helped oversee the operations and made sure that the residents were fed adequately, furnished with decent clothing, received job training, taught various skills and given direction on preparing for job interviews.
15 months later…
Sameer was released from the juvenile detention facility and taken home by his family. After he came into the house, he spent the rest of the day reading books, watching television and using his laptop or other electronic devices in his bedroom. “Ah, I missed doing these things,” he said. The next day he left out of the house and wandered into the Sahara Desert with a canteen full of cold water, just wanting to get away from civilization for a bit.
After walking for about 10 minutes, he stumbled onto a metallic vase. While picking it up, a genie emerged and said, “Rub my vase and I’ll grant you three wishes.” “My first wish is to be presented millions of dollars right now,” commanded Sameer. As the genie made thousands of dollar bills fly in from surrounding regions and land to form a huge pile in front of Sameer, he spoke, “Done.”
“Give me a briefcase big enough to contain all of this money,” ordered Sameer. After making the briefcase appear in his master’s hands, the genie asked, “What’s your final wish?” “Give me magical powers capable of causing mass destruction,” commanded Sameer. After the genie complied, Sameer flew himself out of the desert.
In the northernmost part of Niger, people were walking on the streets. Suddenly, they were pelted by hot sand from the nearby desert Sameer brought with him. Next, Sameer started an earthquake extending several miles while hovering in the sky.
Meanwhile…
While walking through the Sahara Desert for exercise, Cam found out what was happening outside of the desert by reading the Internet on his cell phone. He soon came upon a special urn. Picking it up, he was surprised by a genie that popped up and offered, “You get to make three wishes.” “Take me where a boy is causing havoc nearby,” reciprocated Cam.
Once the genie took his master to the scene where Sameer was killing hundreds of folks, Cam requested, “Give me the magic power to fly on my own and fight this villain.” “As you wish; however, your magic will only last temporarily,” informed the genie. Next, Cam halted the earthquake.
“I’ll teach you to not interfere,” said Sameer while causing debris from the rubble to rise to the sky and pelt Cam, stunning him. Next, Cam deflected the rubble back to Sameer; however, the villain made it vanish in the nick of time. Sameer was slightly hurt as Cam made a bowling ball hit him in the back of his head. “Nice ploy. Too bad something like that won’t work for you again though,” Sameer warned. Then he caused the branches on a nearby tree to grow out and start suffocating Cam.
After Cam made the limbs release him, he lashed them out toward Sameer; however, Sameer flew out of the way. Cam added many limbs to the tree and made it entangle Sameer but it was reduced to ashes. Laughing, the villain set Cam on fire and blurted, “You’re toast, superhero.” After Cam extinguished the fire by dumping water from a gigantic bucket he created overhead, the irritated Sameer created a vortex to devour Cam and told him, “Enough messing around. I’m finishing you off with this vortex that cannot be wiped out by your magic.”
As the vortex started to suck Cam up, he tried to wipe it out with his powers. Unable to do this, he saved himself by teleporting himself out of the vortex. Next, Cam converted the vortex into a gale and used it to send Sameer hurtling toward a skyscraper. Within seconds of hitting the building wall, Sameer made the wind go away.
Then he started pelting Cam with laser beams. As Cam was being seared, he created a vacuum that sucked up the lasers and all of the magic power inside Sameer. As Sameer started plummeting toward the ground, Cam landed, caught Sameer then handed him over to a police officer who was driving his cruiser.
“You only have a little bit of power left, so make the most of it,” Cam’s genie warned him. Seeing the carnage around him, Cam started magically restoring the damaged buildings and automobiles to their original condition; however, he could not bring those who died back to life. Within two minutes, his powers ran out. At this point, the genie advised, “You have one wish left, Master Camual. What do you want it to be?”
Giving this some serious thought, Cam verbally reflected, “Let’s see. I could ask you to finish repairing the damage done to the region but construction officials can do that; plus, that type of wish would not really be something that would benefit mankind permanently. Help me wipe out world starvation by creating special trees that magically produce fruit and other foods all around the planet.”
The genie obliged then left and returned to the bottle Cam found him in. Cam went to his homeless persons center to help run things for a few hours.
