Hulk Hogan has been a part of the wrestling world four decades. I grew up a Hulk Hogan fan. I still consider myself a Hogan fan as an adult. Hulk Hogan fans are identified as being Hulkamanics. Hogan has reterned to the WWE. He had a huge role promoting WrestleMania 30 which aired on April 6th.
Wrestlemania 30 was a huge success! It’s safe to say part of the success was a result of Hogan being a part of it. Hogan was very popular with fans leading up to the very first WrestleMania. It was only right that he be part of the program to help celebrate 30 years of WrestleMania. Hogan has been associated with quite a few moments in wrestling history. WrestleMania III is probably the one he is remembered for the most. He faced off against Andre “The Giant” in front of over 90,000 fans. He body slammed Andre “The Giant” and the building erupted with loud cheers from fans.
Over the years, Hulk Hogan has wrestled against some top notch opponents. His most famous act other than beating Andre “The Giant” was turning against his fans and being a founding father of the New World Order (NWO). I will remember the night Hogan formed the NWO as long as I live. Hogan came to the ring during a match at the Bash at the Beach ’96 pay per view. Fans automatically assumed he was going to aid “The Macho Man” and “Sting”. Instead, Hogan delivered a leg drop to “Macho Man” and joined forces with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Fans were outraged! Quite a few fans started throwing bottles in the ring because of their disgust.
Hogan came back to his senses after a few years of being a bad guy. Fans forgave him and Hulkamania started running wild again. In 2005 he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the evening before WrestleMania 21. He made an appearance at WrestleMania 21. I was 23 years old at the time. When I heard the music to “Real American” I knew Hogan was coming to the ring. I started yelling and screaming to the top of my lungs!
Finally, when I found out that Hogan was coming back to the WWE I experienced all the excitement from my childhood. As a 32 year old adult, nostalgia is part of the excitement. Hogans appearance at Wrestlemania 30 was epic! He shared the ring that night with Steve “Stone Cold” Austin and “The Rock.” Their time together in the ring ended with the three of them having a beer bash. I was yelling and screaming like I was a kid! I’m not ashamed to say that I never out grew being a wrestling fan. I was a Hulkamanic as a child and as an adult Hulkamania still runs wild in my veins.
