When buying Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy ice cream you have the option of vanilla or they also offer vanilla with chocolate and cherry pieces in it. I personally don’t want the chocolate candy so I go with the vanilla.
Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy gives me the satisfaction of eating ice cream while avoiding dairy in my diet. There are those who don’t like the slightly different taste and the texture of Soy Creamy but in my opinion, I get a greater satisfaction from it because of the texture.
When I sit down with a tube of this creamy delight, I find that I don’t eat as much of it and I don’t eat it as fast. It seems to take a bit more time for this to dissolve in your mouth and swallow which to me is more time savoring my indulgence.
When eating traditional ice cream made with milk or cream it seemed to melt faster and I could actually sit and eat at least 1/2 of a gallon easily. It would never last me more than two sittings and once eaten, I had a sense of fullness and an uncomfortable feeling like when you eat too much junk. I find that I seem to swell up in my belly area and don’t sleep as well when eating the dairy that I found in your usual ice cream choices.
If you like soy products or even if you haven’t tried them you might give this product a try at least once. Priced at only $3.99 for a quart it is an amazing bargain where other soy ice creams sell for an outrageous price of $6 and more for a tiny pint. Think about it, you can enjoy twice as much ice cream for just a couple of dollars more.
I like to add some syrup to mine like the sugar free chocolate syrup at your local grocery store. There is another brand that has zero everything on the nutritional label I find at my local health food store, I am not sure how healthy it is for you, but they off Carmel and other toppings as well as many other products such as salad dressing and the like.
It’s a good idea to include nuts in your diet and what better way than to crush some up and top your ice cream with them? About the only thing missing is whipping cream.
This ice cream is not a low calorie or low fat, choice, so be sure to read the label and make sure it fits into your diet considerations. As far as I am concerned the reason to choose this over conventional ice cream would be if you just like the flavor, but first and foremost if you are looking for a dairy alternative.
From my table to yours … That’s what’s cooking!
