It’s time to have a wee bit o’ fun on Long Island at some big St. Patrick’s Day events. So, break out the shamrock headbands, leprechaun hats, and shot glass necklaces and join in on the shenanigans at one of these four local celebrations.
Huntington’s 80th St. Patrick’s Day Parade
When: Sunday, March 9, 2 p.m.
Where: Starts on New York Avenue (north of Huntington Train Station), continues north until heading west on Main Street, and ends at St. Patrick’s Church.
There are St. Patrick’s Day parades held all across Long Island, but Huntington’s is the oldest and the largest, due in large part to the Huntington Ancient Order of Hibernians. In it’s 80th year and with approximately 50,000 attendees, this year’s parade will include over 25 marching bands. More info.
St. Patty’s Day Leprechaun Bar Crawl
When: Saturday, March 15, 12 – 6 p.m.
Where: Huntington Village
Note: Must be 21 and over
Take part in Huntington’s 1st annual St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl. Participants include Honu, Mary Carroll’s, Christopher’s, Finley’s, JT Carrington’s, Rookies Sportsclub, and Huntington Village Tavern. St. Patrick’s Day Dance
When: Saturday, March 15, 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Where: 80 Herbert Ave., Lindenhurst, American Legion Post 1120
Get ready to do an Irish jig at the American Legion’s St. Patrick’s Day dance. Enjoy an Irish feast and an open bar along with performances by Grand Blvd, bagpipers, and Irish step dancers. And at only $25 for the whole evening, your Irish eyes will surely be smiling. More info.
16th Annual Irish Experience Festival
When: Sunday, March 16, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Hempstead, Hofstra University, Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex

Visit over fifty vendors, enjoy delicious Irish food, and watch live performances by The Black Velvet Band, Katie’s Puppets, The Tommy Mulhivill Band, MC Tony Jackson, and Hirten Family Irish Dancers.
