Is there really any meal that is better? I mean, it is the perfect balance between all the great foods of breakfast, combined with all the savory bits you love about lunch. Hence the great name…Brunch!
Here in WV we LOVE our brunch, and in my hometown of Parkersburg, we have five great places to choose from.
Number 5, Bob Evans: Now I know that this is a mainstream chain, but this chain really does it up right, and you will be hard pressed to get at table during certain times of day in my town. Good old fashioned country cooking, with a vast menu to choose from. It is hard to beat!
Number 4, Panera Bread: Again, a nationwide chain, but they offer a great variety of bagels and pastries, as well as some fresh and healthy breakfast sandwiches. If you are looking for a casual, quiet environment to do a little work or study for that big test, while enjoying a scrumptious little niblet, Panera is the place for you.
Number 3, Shoney’s: The reason I am adding Shoney’s to this list, is that for a reasonable price, you can indulge yourself in a fantastic buffet, that is yummy and satisfying. What I love about buffets is that, if you time is right, you can get a great lunch buffet at the breakfast price! OH YEAH!
Number 2, The Daily Grind: I am adding this little local gem because sometimes, at brunch, you don’t really want a heavy meal. You just want some great coffee, a pastry, maybe a little fruit, and that’s it! Bev Yeager serves up the best brew in town and gets her great little pastries from a local bakery down the street! She is located in the heart of downtown, where you have great energy, and it offers a laid back environment as well.
Number 1, Mary-Ann’s: Well, I don’t even know where to begin about Mary-Ann’s. This is truly food like your grandma used to make and A LOT of it, at a great price! They serve breakfast all day, as well as the normal menu, and no matter what you are in the mood for, Mary-Ann’s deliver’s. Local and delicious, and that is why it get’s my number one spot on this list!
