As a frequent traveler, one of the things I do first when preparing for my trip is organize and pack away the technology I wish to bring with me. To assist other travelers I have compiled a list of the top five tech gadgets that I find the most useful when traveling.
1. A camera
As a photographer my camera is the first thing I pack. Currently, I am using a Nikon D3200 with an assortment of lenses. It not only helps capture the memories of my trip, but it does so beautifully. Each photo is a high quality work of art and a lovely remainder of the fun times that were had. What good is going on a road trip or traveling somewhere new and exciting without being able to capture the moment and be able to cherish it forever?
Whether or not you are traveling by car or not, a GPS is a must-have gadget. When you get to a new place, you’re going to want to explore right? The best way to do that is with a GPS that will assist you in finding exactly what you’re looking for. Although getting lost can be fun and part of the adventure, it can also be a hassle and stress you out. Of the many GPS brands out there, I would strongly recommend purchasing a Garmin. If you choose to use the voice feature, it speaks clearly and is easy to understand. The instructions are accurate and it has not yet taken me to an undesired location.
Say you’re reaching the end of your trip and want to share all the beautiful photos you’ve taken, what better way to do that than with a laptop. My laptop is the source of all of my editing tools for my photographs, and without it, I would be incapable of sharing them with friends and family. Since they are allowed out and in use on planes, they provide entertainment during the flight and also can be used to check in on any work details you may have missed while traveling.
4. Cell phone
Say your plane arrived late and you need to check in with the hotel about your reservations, best way to do so is by phone. They also allow family and friends to check in on you and see how the journey is going. Furthermore, should there be an emergency back home or while traveling such as an accident, a cell phone is the gateway to help.
5. A universal charger
Although it is simply just an adapter, it is an important piece of technology. The charger is especially handy for anyone traveling outside the country, as it adapts to fit the various outlets around the world.
