When attempting to do your own nails, nail polish can easily chip. Many times, you may see it chip within a day or two. This can be very annoying, especially, if you spent about an hour on them. Here are a few great tips that will help your nail polish lasts longer:
Nail Tip #1
To prevent smudging, never apply thick coats. Always apply 2-3 thin layer coats. It will help reduce drying time between coats. It will also lessen the chances of bubbles forming. Bubbles will prevent the nail polish from adhering to your nails.
Nail Tip #2
Always apply the top coat to wet nail polish. This helps the top coat to easily penetrate through the polish. It also helps the other two coats bond to the nail bed.
Nail Tip #3
Always apply a base coat, to help even out the nail polish. Make sure your nails are completely dry, before applying your base coat. If your nail bed is still wet, it prevents it from properly adhering to your nails. This can cause the nail polish and base coat to lift off and chip.
Nail Tip #4
Whenever you clean up, always wear rubber gloves. If water or other chemicals touch your nails, it will destroy your manicure. It will make them less glossy and more likely to chip.
Nail Tip #5
Give your nails plenty of time to dry. To ensure your nails are dry, gently touch your pinky nails together. If they don’t stick to each other, they are completely dry.
