Titanfall: Tips and Information for GEN4 Challenges

by yak max

Some of the Regeneration challenges are a pain in general, but the ones during GEN4 aren’t so bad… except for one. Here are the full list of challenges – title and all – and some tips on how to conquer them so you can finally regenerate with less agitation.

If It Moves… (Kill 150 [Total] enemies with the Longbow-DMR)
When the game states “enemies,” they mean enemy AI (Not “Pilots”). This one is quite easy, although a bit time consuming since you cannot run and gun as easily as the past challenges. But honestly, it was a nice change of pace. I suggest putting the silencer on Longbow-DMR when doing this challenge so enemy Pilots don’t see you and pick you off with ease. Plus, honestly, it sounds cooler.

Find enemy AI that are in groups (They usually are) and just aim for headshots. Spectres take a bit more ammo, so stick with the grunts if possible.

I also suggest using the Active Camo since you’ll be sitting around and moving more slowly, so the Stim isn’t really incredibly beneficial.

Top Gun (Kill 50 [Total] Enemy Pilots with the Longbow-DMR)
Of course this one is a bit harder since you’re not going for the fodder anymore. You’re going for REAL players – the enemy Pilots. This one took me a bit of time since I am pretty bad at sniping in any game (I’m more of a run and gunner), but I actually had fun with this one, especially when using the silencer.

My suggestion is to sit back with Active Camo. Don’t merely camp back in one spot – move strategically to vantage points and unusual spots where players don’t generally go. In the beginning of matches people generally take similar routes, so learn these hot pathways and use them to your advantage. Pick them off for a handful of “easy” kills.

Also note that when using the Active Camo that you can aim in with the sniper, but there is no crosshairs.

If It Moves… (Kill 200 [Total] Enemies with the Quad Rocket)
While 200 may seem like a lot, this one goes rather quickly since rockets are pretty awesome, especially when you unlock Rapid Fire. Just go for groups of enemies. I suggest Attrition for this, since you’ll get a good chunk of points and help your team out while completing the challenge.

Titan Killer (Kill 50 Enemy Titans with the Quad Rocket)
Much more difficult of the two Quad Rocket challenges, I highly suggest using the Rapid Fire. This allows the rockets to shoot faster and straight, rather than in a circle formation of four rockets.

Hop into a game of Last Titan Standing, as this allows you the most opportunity to take out an enemy Titan. Before you get the Rapid fire attachment, get in very close and use the melee to attack other Titans while simultaneously using your Quad Rocket. It does a bit of damage, but you’ll often go down due to the close quarters combat.

Once Rapid Fire is unlocked, it’s a whole new ballgame. This attachment is great. You can unload rockets from a decent range with pretty good accuracy. I use it with the Cluster Missile and I do quite well.

Critically Conditioned (Get 30 Critical Hits on Enemy Titans with the Charge Rifle)
The absolute WORST challenge this GEN is this one. You have to use the Charge Rifle, which isn’t unlocked anywhere in the early levels, to get critical hits on enemy Titans. The weapon in itself is alright, but it’s the hardest to use out of any anti-Titan weapon. It takes a few second to charge and you have to be spot on. Couple that with the fact that you then also hit smaller targets on the enemy Titans (The small red glowing areas).

I suggest playing Last Titan Standing, exiting your Titan, and just hide on rooftops and try to get in critical shots.

If you get a Burn Card for an Amped Charge Rifle (Which is awesome), then use that whenever you can in the earlier levels to pick away at the challenge.

Top Gun (Kill 50 [Total] Enemy Pilots with the RE-45 Autopistol)
This challenge was annoying a bit, but wasn’t terrible. Since I was using the Longbow-DRM at the same time, I was using my pistol quite often when moving from spot to spot. This pistol is quite good, but the ammo in the clip goes pretty quick, so be accurate!

Use the pistol in close quarter combat and strafe from side to side. I do this and it has helped me numerous times from becoming worm food. Also, aim for the head if possible.
