In order to take out those huge Titans dashing around the levels and shooting rockets, you’ll need some extra firepower. Luckily, every player is given a slot for an Anti-Titan Weapon. In total, there are four (Each with an amped version through Burn Cards as well). They are progressively unlocked as you level up. The following is a small review of each of the Anti-Titan Weapons:
Archer Heavy Rocket (Unlocked @ Level 5)
The first Anti-Titan Weapon that you get is the Archer Heavy Rocket. Slow, yet reliable, this is probably the best Anti-Titan Weapon for someone that is completely new to the game and/or shooters in general.
The Archer Heavy Rocket works by locking on after a couple of seconds while ADSing (Aiming Down the Sights AKA Holding the left trigger). If something gets between you and an enemy Titan, it won’t lock and you’ll have to retry. You can then shoot your projective which, overall, does a decent amount of damage. But it takes many shots to take down an enemy Titan.
The downside, aside from how slow it is compared to the other Anti-Titan Weapons, is that since you’re locking onto an enemy Titan it informs them of it. It’ll literally say on their screen that an enemy Pilot is locking onto them.
Personally, I think it’s best to use this from rooftops with cover. Pop out, lock on shoot, take cover, hit Active Camo, pop out, lock on, shoot, take cover and so on. If the enemy Titan is engaged with another enemy Titan, then you’ll probably get an easy Titan kill or assist.
Sidewinder (Unlocked @ Level 5)
This Anti-Titan weapon rapidly fires mini-missiles at enemy Titans to dish out some damage. Some people say that the spread of the shot is a bit larger, but I never seem to have an issue with this Anti-Titan Weapon. In fact, it’s my favorite of all of them!
Unlike the Archer Heavy Rocket, this one shoots rapidly (Like the Carbine, for example) and without a lock, so you need to be as accurate as possible.
If you see a critical point open up on an enemy Titan, take aim! The reload animation isn’t too long, either.
Mag Launcher (Unlocked @ Level 23)
This weapon — the coolest sounding, I might add — shoots magnetic grenades that will veer towards enemy Titans if they are shot within close enough proximity. They also detonate on impact.
This weapon is good for when an enemy Titan is trying to get away, so you can kind of lead your shots to have the projectiles veer towards it. You can also lob these a bit, unlike with any of the other Anti-Titan Weapons. This is great since you can, in many instances, take and hold cover while shooting at an enemy Titan.
Charge Rifle (Unlocked @ Level 33)
Probably my least favorite Anti-Titan Weapon right now, it’s still pretty fun overall. This baby has to be used to get to Generation 5 from 4 (Critical hits!), so if you’re before Generation 4 I suggest practicing.
The Charge Rifle doesn’t shoot right away; Rather, you need to “charge” it up for a couple of seconds (There are meters around the crosshair icon) and it’ll shoot automatically at the end of this charge.
While you need to be precise, it may be well worth it since the Charge Rifle can do massive damage when you hit a weakened enemy Titan in a critical spot!
Since you’re shooting a huge amber laser beam, I highly suggest taking cover after shooting or using Active Camo, since you’re essentially sending all of the enemies a signal flare that you’re there!
