How often do you get so busy that you forget to send that birthday card to someone? You certainly had good intentions but before you know it that day has passed you by. Try these tips to help in preventing this from becoming a recurring problem.
Calendar – I know it sounds simple but write it down. In the hustle and bustle of life, we simply forget. Manually writing it down will serve as a visual reminder. You may want to have a calendar that specifically has birthdays only in it without appointments or other notes that are usually put on your schedule.
Voice mail – Something as simple as leaving yourself a voicemail a few days in advance might prompt you to get that card mailed for it to be received in time for that person’s special day.
Technology – Use your IPad or android tablets, computers and Smartphones as reminders to prompt you to not forget. They come with electronic calendars that can be set to ring with a reminder sound of some kind.
Mirror – Put a reminder on your mirror with a Post-It note in plain view. Use a neon color that pops out and grabs your attention.
Refrigerator – Because you go into this every day, use a magnet to attach a sheet that will be a reminder. You can write the names and birthdates for one month at a time and mark them off when the day has past.
Garage Wall – Use a magnetic calendar and place on your garage wall with people’s birthdays marked on it. With the frequency of going in and out, you are sure to see it.
Voice recorder – Most mobile phones on the market today have a feature where you can record short reminders to yourself. Use it as a way to remember birthdays.
Birthday box – At the end of the month, look at your birthday calendar to see who is having a birthday in the next month. Have cards available in a box, stamped and addressed to be put in the mail a few days prior.
Hopefully by using some of these methods, you will solve the problem when it comes to forgetting someone’s birthday. But even after all these suggestions and you still forget, send them a belated card. The recipient will appreciate the recognition.
