As a personal trainer, I am always being approached by women who want to know how to “get rid of” their so-called thunder thighs.
Inline Skating for Thunder Thighs
Inline skating, or rollerblading, is excellent for burning calories and firming up the thighs and buttocks. You can burn as much as 1,000 calories each day while performing this high-intensity exercise. Combine rollerblading with a low-calorie diet and fat will melt off thunder thighs and other parts of the body.
Rollerblading tones the entire thigh with special emphasis on the inner thighs, promoting a leaner look. If new to rollerblading, begin slowly. Gradually increase the intensity of rollerblading sessions as you become more comfortable. Blade for at least 30 minutes three times each week. By combining rollerblading with a healthy diet you will see pounds melt faster while legs appear leaner much quicker.
Stair Workouts for Thunder Thighs
Stair climbing provides leg toning exercise without bulking up muscles. Sideways stair climbing is excellent for toning the inner thighs. Combine regular stair climbing with sideways stair climbing to maximize the impact on legs and reduce the appearance of big thighs.
Stair climbing can be performed on a stair climber machine, or on ordinary stairs at a track or other facility. If climbing sideways, consider using a rail for support. Avoid moving too fast to keep safe.
Ski Away Thunder Thighs
Skiing provides an intense workout for the quadriceps and inner thighs, helping to burn fat and tone legs without bulking legs. To reduce the appearance of thunder thighs, consider skiing during the chillier months of the year.
If you are a beginner, take a class. The movements required for walking, skiing, and stopping all require extensive use of the leg muscles. Slowing down and turning cause the inner thighs to contract, further strengthening and toning the legs. Skiing is also a social activity you can enjoy with friends and family, making exercise a more pleasurable activity.
Tennis Slims the Thighs
Tennis is a social sport that provides excellent cardiovascular benefits and reduces the appearance of thunder thighs. Tennis requires constant movement and running result in great looking legs. Much of this includes running forward, backward, and sideways.
The side running motions in tennis are useful for working the inner thighs, and the forward and backward motions of tennis are helpful for exercising the quads and hamstrings. Tennis also provides a good cardiovascular workout for burning extra fat and calories.
Yoga Makes Legs Look Better
Yoga provides many different poses for reducing stubborn thunder thighs. Bulky legs are often a reason many individuals participate in yoga. This exercise is known for its ability to lengthen and strengthen muscles, giving participants a much leaner look.
Practicing yoga poses for just two to three minutes each day can help reduce the appearance of thunder thighs by lengthening the muscles, and tightening the muscles in the legs. Some excellent poses to try include chair pose, warrior pose, and the double leg raise.
Jump Squats for Great Legs
Jump squats are a move that involve high intensity cardiovascular exercise with muscle toning benefits. This move can help burn calories and tone thunderous thighs. Jump squats are ordinary squats requiring you to jump off the ground when in the down position, instead of returning to the start position.
Some people perform this exercise without a barbell or a dumbbell, with their arms out in front of the body. This may help stabilize you while practicing jump squats. Keep legs approximately shoulder width apart.
If you want to get rid of the thunder in your thighs, include these above workouts.
