Motherhood is a wonderful thing many women get to experience; many have the support of their family, their significant other and friends. There are many out there though that struggle with that support and end up as single mothers with no help at all. They struggle with careers and feel the added pressure of knowing they must do the best they can to support not only them but the child they gave life to. There is an immense amount of pressure to make the right decision even if there not good for you; as long as it benefits the well being of their child they make sure to do that.
Sophia Dash has overcome so many odds, slanderous attacks in the media, jail time for a fraudulent business owner who dumped the blame on her, a hard divorce that left her desperate to recover from. Once she became pregnant by a renowned DJ who left her in the middle of the hospital room as she gave birth to her daughter, she had even more obstacles to over come. She was now a single mother fighting to support her self a week out of the hospital, she was alone, broken and lost. She fought for her business only to be slammed by the media for her previous mistakes. I had the opportunity to speak with Sophia extensively so I could paint a picture of her life story for you to read. Below you will find her story as told through me over a course of a week.
The Fairy Tale Beginning
It all began with a world wind romance in 2005 with a reality star that starred in “Big Brother Sweden.” Sophia met him in Las Vegas at the age of twenty five and the two began an intense relationship. With trips around the world, and a fairytale proposal in Santa Barbara the two returned to Vegas after only two months of heated passion to marry one another. Things were going good between the couple, they co owned several businesses together, JK Global an apparel import business as well as a tanning salon called Sol in Sweden. The married couple lived in bliss during the first year, enjoying the large home, exotic cars, and vacations all over the globe every two weeks.
It would seem as though Sophia had found the perfect match for her and had the fairy tale life. This was to come crashing down just after a year into the marriage when her husband struck her in a heated argument and Sophia ran. She wouldn’t stand for such physical abuse, and refused to go back to him after the first time knowing, if she did it would leave the door open to future abuse. She did what she thought was best for her and filed for divorce at the age of 26. She gave up everything to make a clean cut and have nothing to do with him anymore; she gave up the money, cars, homes, and anything that was attached to him. She now had to figure out a way to survive and with in two months landed a job as Managing Director. The name of the business would eventually slip her mind when the bright light she thought she had found would turn into a hellish nightmare.
Shattered Attempt to Rebuild
She soon met a Chef who would later go on to ruin as much of her life as possible, after she hired him to cater a dinner party she had. The chef met one of Sophia’s friends at the party and asked Sophia to arrange a get together for the two. When the evening came for them to meet, Sophia’s friend didn’t like him and rejected his advancements. His behavior afterwards started to concern Sophia when he began to speak about how desperately he wanted to be famous, and how he was making a woman’s life a living hell all because she didn’t like him back. Sophia slowly backed away from this man and put as much distance between them as she could. If only she would have known that distance would not keep this man away from her.
In March of 2007 when it was discovered that the business she was working at was a fraud and was embezzling money, the owner skipped town and left Sophia to take the fall. It didn’t help that she was involved in the wrong crowd of people, all individuals she had surrounded her self with to desperately try to rebuild her self esteem after the divorce. When she took the fall she ended up jailed for fraudulent business practices that were not hers to begin with. She struggled with what was happening and started questioning the reason why she was in the spot she was in. She refused bail because she wanted to walk out of their knowing she was released because it had been proven she was not guilty of what they charged her with.
The Nightmare takes a Hellish Turn
While in jail the chef reared his ugly head, he became obsessed with fame again and branded himself as the “Scandal Hero Blogger,” and made Sophia his claim to fame. He dedicated an entire blog about her hacking into her email accounts and sending all of her contacts the links and articles he had written, slandering her viciously. He even went as far as to show up during her court hearings with photographers and media to continue to spread his name. Sophia eventually had to be transferred to a high profile area of the jail when inmates started uncovering the articles and website about her and harassed her relentlessly. Finally after three months she was released from jail, cleared of the charges that were brought against her. After Jail she decided to stray away from her real name Kathleen Sophia Legaspi, and go by the moniker Sophia Dash to make sure that the chef couldn’t track her down again.
This was a turning point for Sophia, with plenty of time to think while in jail she needed to figure out the right way to get her life back on track. She lost many so called friends who believed the stories printed about her, which ultimately affected her mental health. With so many judgmental people in the world it was hard for Sophia to gain traction in her new life, when she was constantly haunted by the past and what the chef was doing. Thanks to a good friend in Chicago Sophia was able to maintain the right path and stay positive about the situation and reminded her, people who cared and who really knew her wouldn’t judge her based off what someone else was writing about her.
A New Beginning
She soon started working as a Detox Specialist, which motivated her to open her first Detox spa called “KLENZ” and worked as a manager for a Patient Advocacy for a Stem cell institute for 2 years. She devoted herself to working two jobs, and charity work to help her regain her confidence in her self, rebuilding what she had lost over the past few years. Everything finally seemed to have fallen in place for Sophia when she met a model who had starred on the VH1 Show “America’s Most Smartest Model”, and the unexpected happened and Sophia’s life changed drastically when she found out she was pregnant with her first child.
When Sophia got pregnant she had just started her new business “Look Better Naked Health Management,” she was conducting celebrity boot camps with Jeremy Jackson and Valentina’s father. Through out her pregnancy Sophia continued to work as hard as she could to prepare for Valentina’s arrival, working over time, never knowing if she would be quite ready for when her first child arrived. She thought she would have the support of Valentina’s father but after supporting him for some time, he ended up walking out of the hospital as she gave birth.
A New Destiny
Valentina was born on January 6, 2013; just a week after her C-section Sophia was back to work again pushing her self to succeed in her business. She was soon blind sided when the chef came back into the picture and began harassing Sophia yet again. This time he started contacting people she knew, to let them know that he would only stop writing about her and harassing her if she made an offer to pay him. Sophia did the only thing she could think of and contacted him and begged him to stop, he demanded ten thousand dollars from her to leave her alone. At this point Sophia was fed up with the harassment and took the right precautions to end the online harassment.
Through out this entire time Sophia struggled as a single mother, harassment, abandonment, and self loathing was all a daily part of her life. Thanks to Valentina her previously strained relationship with her parents began to get better. Her mother and father started helping her with Valentina which allowed Sophia to work even harder at her various endeavors. Sophia built a place that people could come and take care of their wellness needs but also allowed them to have a place to hang out and just be them selves, Body Loft opened up in June of 2013 when Valentina was only 6 months old.
Through out all of her struggles, divorce, jail time, stalking, and pregnancy and then being abandoned by Valentina’s father Sophia has proven that hard work and dedication can pay off. She may not walk the golden brick road to the emerald city but she paves her own path to the city of her dreams.
