Being a proud and loving owner of two dogs, I have discovered patterns in their behaviors, sometimes accompanied by mood swings. Below are four reasons why dogs may be ticked off at their owners.
1. Cancelling Their Play Dates
This may sound far fetched (no pun intended), but I believe dogs may possess an instinct almost identical to humans. What if they knew that you cancelled their routine play dates with the neighbor’s dog or the weekly trip to the dog park? Take a look at your pooch after you cancel his/her main outlet for fun and see if they don’t treat you weird.
2. Changing Their Brand Of Dog Food
Your little companion may not be able to express themselves verbally, but you will receive the message loud and clear. If you change your dog’s food and they do not like the brand you choose, then they will go on a hunger strike. I have had this happen to me several times. My dogs would literally go up to the bowl, sample a taste, and then spit it out and walk away. Frankly, their statements are quite bold.
3. Opting Not To Play Fetch With Them
From my experience, I have noticed my dog display some disgruntled behavior all because I did not have the time to throw him his toy. One instance occurred when I was too busy and occupied with my business. My dog clearly wanted to play fetch. However, I had no choice but to ignore him. Being frustrated he sat down right next to my feet, proceeded to lay down and exerted a human-like groan. His groan expressed exactly how he felt about the situation.
4. Making Them Wear Ridiculous Outfits
Now, as a proud pet owner, I would essentially always want to do what is best for my dogs. For example, if the weather outside is brutally cold and horrendous, I would take the appropriate actions to protect my dogs. In cases like blistering cold weather, I would buy my dogs outfits to keep them warm. In their minds, they wouldn’t have the sense to realize my tactics in preventing them from freezing temperatures. However, it appeared that they had the sense to realize it constituted as a fashion violation in the law of doggy attire. On more then one occasion, I would protect my dogs with clothing only to turn around and find that they had stripped the fabrics off of their bodies. Don’t ask me how they did it. Just know that they weren’t pleased.
5. Cheating on Them With Other Dogs
Similar to how a wife may suspect a husband of cheating based on a scent of another woman’s perfume, your animal will have the same sense in discovering the “other one.” I have been guilty of coming back home after petting other dogs, and once my pet picked up on the scent, his mood went from joyous to distant and cold. Dogs will always be distinguished in their attitudes and known for their unique and one of a kind instinct. As long as you understand your dog, your relationship shall remain stable. I don’t encourage any of you to practice any of the above actions. If you find yourself guilty of breaking any of these doggy commandments, your pooch might be frustrated enough to a point where they will file for divorce.
