We spend $15-$25 per brush on decent high-quality make-up brushes. The correct and proper brushes can impact how your final look turns out. It can honestly make the world of a difference on your appearance. We need to learn to take good care of this incredible brushes. Taking the proper care of your make-up brushes can result in them lasting for years and years.
I recommend cleaning your brushes about once a week. That includes your brushes that you use for foundation and the dry brushes as well. You use dry brushes for powder, bronzer, etc. You can honestly clean these brushes with Dove soap, a gentle shampoo and water, then allow them to dry. If you are using shampoo, please make sure to wet the brush first, then add a tiny dot (small than a dime size) to the brush. Brush the brush back and forth to clean the inside and out of it. After you have gone back and forth a few times, run the brush under luke warm water. Run it until the water is completely clear. Take a towel or paper towel and blot it dry. No not rub it back and forth like you are doing some hard painting. Treat them delicately. Make sure to get out all of the excess water and lay the brush flat to dry.
Synthetic Bristle Brushes are a little trickier to clean. These are the brushes that you use for your lip gloss, cream blush, foundation, concealer and other liquid products. Many brands have different brush cleaners for these. You can clean these brushes with soap and water, but I find that the make-up cleansers work better. I love Mac’s brush cleanser the best. It leaves them smelling lovely as well.
Going beyond make-up brushes, make sure to clean your other make-up essentials. That goes for your tweezers, lash combs and others. I always spray my tweezers with alcohol after use and put them back in my dish. Run your lash combs under water and use a little soap/shampoo if needed. Hope you enjoyed these tips and enjoy your make-up brushes and make them last for years.
