I once thought that taking bubble baths was not a manly thing to do. Only people I trusted knew I took bubble baths, while the others thought I take showers using Irish Spring soap.
I never told people that I used Mr. Bubble.
Let’s face it taking showers are boring. You just stand under the showerhead, sing a couple of lame pop songs, soap up and that’s it. Taking a regular bath isn’t that much better.
But as I matured with age I became much more liberated. I stopped caring what people thought. So what if people saw me as feminine or childish. I just wanted to relax and have fun in the tub. I was tired of showering just because I was a male.
I discovered that bathing with those shiny bubbles was a way to escape life’s worries, at least for a couple of hours.
Soon my bubble bathing began to evolve into an art form. I still use Mr. Bubble on occasion but I now employ a wide variety of foam and aromatic ingredients from lavender-scented to coconut meringue concoctions. I even use food dyes to give the bath water a wild and psychedelic appearance.
I just love those sparkly bubbles. Each one of those babies is filled with trapped air giving it a cool wiggly shape. I like to look inside a big bubble and see the colors of the rainbow or stack a bunch of foam on my head to make believe that I have hair again.
I also have some floating toys like the Seaview Submarine from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. My Yellow Submarine float triggers me to sing: In the town, where I was born, lived a man who, sailed to sea…
I know what you’re thinking–I’m behaving like a foolish child. But it’s not all kids’ stuff when I take a bubble bath.
I relax, lay my head on a water cushion, light up a Cuban cigar and take a slow sip of Tequila. Sometimes I light candles and listen to Michael Buble sing my favorite song–Everything.
And when I’m feeling especially creative, I’ll grab a couple of soap crayons and scribble some haiku on the bathroom wall. I keep it interesting. It’s never boring in my oversized fiberglass tub.
Like the Mr. Bubble slogan says, taking a bubble bath “Makes Getting Clean Almost as Much Fun as Getting Dirty!”
