The Unique Bride’s Guide to Invites

by yak max

The invitation is an important aspect of wedding planning for multiple reasons. Not only does it inform guests of the place, date, and time of your special day, but it also sets the mood for the wedding as well. Your wedding invitation will help guests prepare for the type of experience you will provide. As I plan my upcoming 2015 wedding, I have looked heavily into the invitation process. Being “on trend” has never been important to me; however, I found that there is something to be learned from what is trendy. This is how you can spin what’s trending into your own unique look for your invitations.

Sparkles and bold patterns are both very popular in today’s wedding market. I combined the two on my cake table with a gorgeous glittery striped linen. The stripes are bold and the glitter is elegant, combined it looks ultra modern and chic. This can also easily be done with a wedding invitation. Online you can find a variety of beautiful invitations including this one on Zazzle that combines gold glitter in a chevron print.

Bold patterns like floral, stripes, and chevron are exceptionally popular right now. I have always been a huge fan of mixing patterns, so it is no surprise that my wedding design is a mash up of bold stripes and adorable polka dots. Although, the possibilities for brides making their own invitations are endless, it is not as easy to find mixed patterns in pre-made invitations. But minted.com does have this elegantly designed invitation that combines a bold floral print on a striped background. The combination is amazing.

Vintage is ultra chic and popular. Although not my personal style, vintage brides have an assortment of options to choose from. Muted colors and gorgeous lace are all very popular. Want to kick your vintage invitation up a notch? Try adding glitter to your invitations. This again combines two popular trends to create something unique and all your own. This invitation from weddingpaperdivas.com has a beautiful lace design in your choice of gold or silver glitter.

Sketches on invitations, like city skylines and bare trees, have recently become popular. An easy way for the artistic bride (or groom) to make their invitations unique is to use a sketch of their own on their invitations. Guests will love how custom the invitations are. Zazzle.com has combined two trends with this save the date featuring a sketch of an oak tree printed on vintage looking paper.

No matter what your style, there’s sure to be an invitation to match. Even the most unique bride can find an invitation that truly inspires them.
