Each spring families start planning their next camping trip, and many try to include their furry family member as well. If you live near the East Coast you are probably wondering where you can take your pet. Well not just any pet friendly campground will do. Instead you will want to find a pet friendly campground that has something for everyone in the family. So here are some top picks. Keep in mind that these campgrounds have some basic rules in reference to your dog. For example they must have all their shots, especially the rabies shot. They also must not be an aggressive breed. Be sure to check the website for the campground to get all of the rules in reference to bringing your dog. These are just a few to get you started.
Delaware River Family Campground
This campground is located at 100 Route 46 Delaware, NJ. The telephone number is (908) 475-4517. They have a pet policy so be sure to check it out. The rates are pretty reasonable and cost about $20 on average per night. They have plenty of activities for the entire family to enjoy from basketball to volleyball and more.
Blackwoods Campground Acadia National Park
It is located at State Route 3, Bar Harbor, Maine. You can click on the link above to find out more information about making reservations. One of my favorite places to camp is the Acadia National park, at the Blackwoods Campground. They allow pets but you must make sure that they are leashed at all times, and you have them under complete control. They really do enforce the quiet hours so make sure that you do not have a dog that gets carried away with the barking. Otherwise you may find yourself being removed from the campground. There are plenty of places to hike with the entire family. Just check before you go to find out if your dog is allowed in certain areas.
First Landing State Park Campground
This campground is found at 2500 Shore Dr. Virginia Beach Virginia. This campground has more activities than you can list. They have hiking, bike riding, of course swimming and so much more. Of course the best part is that your family friendly pet is welcome to come along for the trip. Just make sure you bring documented proof of their rabies vaccination. If you have pets that love trails this is the place you will want to take them. Just bring along some extra towels so you can bathe your dog. Since the campground is on the beach your pet is sure to get a lot of sand in their fur. You will also need to be careful of all the spurs that could cause them some pain. This campsite usually get’s pretty crowded so keep that in mind when you are planning your trip. Click the link above to visit the website for the fees and additional information.
Pine Grove Furnace State Park
They are located at 1100 Pine Grove Road, Gardeners, PA 17324. The best part of this park is that they do allow pets, of course but be sure to check the pet policy for the exact rules. This campground has some very rustic sites, but they are located in a scenic part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The trails in this area will definitely give your dog a workout, and the entire family will enjoy just being out in nature.
