The Top 5 (Essential) Reasons You Will Purchase a Smart Watch in 2014

by yak max

Smart Watches are on the forefront of the 2014 technology break-out “must haves”. Why? We’re going to discuss 5 reasons Smart Watches will become a feeding frenzy for geeks, moms, dads, and gym rats, and if you aren’t considered in that category, why even you will want a Smart Watch.

Intro

Earlier in 2013, we saw the break-out of large companies, such as Samsung, Nexus, Sony, and even Generic Chinese brands push out there version of what the Smart Watch should look like, feel like, and operate like. The one company who has been sitting back from all this action? Apple. Smart. It’s easy for large scale companies to jump into a market where they know they will immediately profit from impulse buyers and techies who will buy their product off from “pure curiosity” and to create “conversational pieces” with their friends; but what about Apple?

Apple has taken the sit-back-and-research approach. Why? Why wouldn’t they jump all over the next big thing? They are. It’s one thing to make a hasty product; however, it’s another thing to watch others fail, and to learn from those failures but also the successes of rivals. Apple has made a name for itself as to “ease of use”. No one wants to pick up a device/product that has a steep learning curve. They want something familiar to them, they want something that immediately becomes an intimate part of their life and has benefits. Apple has been working hard, at not only finding out what works, but reading reviews and suggestions of what people want. So why is 2014 going to be the break-out year for the Smart Watch? It’s strongly rumored that in the summer of 2014, Apple will finally release its “iWatch”. So what right? Who cares? Well here are the 5 Essential Reasons You Will Buy A Smart Watch In 2014!

1. You Will Become a Healthier Person

It’s the beginning of a new year. I hope you have set your new year’s resolution, and although it may not be yours, the vast majority of individuals have set a weight loss goal for 2014. So where does the Smart Watch come into play?

Smart Watches have the capabilities now to not only keep track of how many steps you take, calories burned and your heart rate, but as well as your blood pressure. Being in the electronics-age where we want to simplify and have more time for things that are important to us, we pushed this to the #1 spot on our list. Apps are being created (some are already out) that will automatically sync the data from your Smart Watch, to your Smart Phone. Thus being able to create a data health record of your vital signs, calories burned, and steps taken.

More and more people will eventually find that this information not only helps them create a specific diet plan to aid in their weight loss goals, but will help maneuver them to hospitals when they weren’t aware of their physical condition. Imagine knowing all this information in real time? For diabetic patients, cancer patients, and a whole slew of others, this information will become priceless. No more walking into Walmart and using their free blood pressure machine to find out if you should be concerned about hypertension (high blood pressure) or buying a pulse oximetry unit to monitor your heart rate and oxygen saturation. All this information will be directly at your fingertips in seconds.

There has also been rumors that individuals will be able to get health insurance discounts for syncing their health data to their servers. How true this rumor is, is unknown, but we do know that Apple has been arranging meetings with the FDA to get their new iWatch approved as a certified health device.

2. Adventures

Wow. Adventures? Really?! Yup. Do you hike, swim, bike, climb, ski, etc? Pretty much any sport, exercise or thrill seeking adventure will benefit from the portable device.

Imagine trying to whip out your Smart Phone to capture that “needed” picture for your Facebook fans. Better yet, imagine skiing down a slope, jamming out to your favorite artist, without having a Smart Phone in your pocket that you’re afraid you are going to break.

Even better yet, imagine this (my favorite). You wake up to a vibration on your wrist; you get out of bed, get in the shower and start playing your favorite tune while showering. Yup, almost all Smart Watches are waterproof. Mostly because of how revealed your wrist will be when it rains. Almost every sport or activity where you are afraid of breaking your cell phone will be fulfilled with the small convenient device on your wrist.

Not only that, but keeping up with your routine will be a breeze. Climbers will get elevation stats, humidity stats, weather stats, without having to rely on their Smart Phone. They will simply open the app on their Smart Watch prior to their climb and monitor it from a simple twist of the wrist.

3. Convenience

Pretty self-explanatory right? Having a device that is literally always within your eye-sight is something that people want. For those of us who attend business meetings, we can benefit enormously from this device. Imagine sitting in a meeting while someone is giving a presentation and quickly glancing at your wrist to see who is calling without interrupting and looking like a fool! This can also satisfy urges of seeing important texts or emails.

The advantages of convenience will be a large reason why many individuals go out and purchase this device. No more reaching into your tight jeans while you’re driving to fish out your Smart Phone to see who is calling. You can quickly glance at your wrist and get your eyes back on the road.

Other advantages will be the GPS feature for people who are walking down the sidewalk to find a specific store or for those who just want to take a quick 2 second glance at the weather or time. How many of us have diverted from normal watches to tell time, to our Smart Phones? How many times have you taken out your Smart Phone to just get the time? Not anymore.

Music will be a touch away, no more accessories to attach your phone to your arm. No more running on the treadmill and accidentally swiping your audio cable and knocking your phone out of the holder. Simplification my friends, and convenience!

4. Style

It’s not a miss-type, or mistake. Style is important in some way to all of us. Just for the same reason you have your specific Smart Phone, you will also purchase a specific Smart Watch. Style makes up our individual personalities. It helps us express who we are.

Smart Watches will be produced in different colors, textures, materials, shapes and sizes. Google images will prove to you that there is an endless amount of each; making it possible for everyone to full-fill their personality in a different way for 2014. (I even saw a Lego type).

Manufacturers have been taking size into more consideration than ever. Most people are looking for something slim and balanced. Others are looking for larger screens for their large fingers. While others just want something normal looking. The possibilities are endless.

Whether you want leather, or plastic, rubber or metal, everything will be at your disposal. Broken wrist bands will be cheaper and easier to replace; or easy to swap out for a specific outfit match.

Whether you just want it for functionality or to compliment the way you want people to see yourself, style will be on everyone’s mind when choosing a Smart Watch. It will also be the reason why many people give the Smart Watch a chance.

5. Curiosity

I put this last, because it wraps up the previous four points into a neat little final point. A Smart Watch has peaked your curiosity as to how it can affect your life. Most importantly it will save you time, but we all live different lives, and whether or not a Smart Watch will benefit you is completely based on your personal lifestyle.

For instance, the reason why you are reading this article is because you have been curious for a while. Most likely one of the features I pointed out in the above text is why a little part of you wants one. If not, maybe you want one and you don’t know why. It’s ok.

A lot of us like change. We thrive from it. We look to make our lives more interesting by the day. Who likes boring, right? The fact is, is that you never knew you needed a Smart Phone until you had one. The same will apply to the Smart Watch. You won’t know until you have one.

Conclusion

Not only is the Smart Watch revelation here, but it’s going to grow and change over time. Being a part of it is up to you. For many, it’s going to be something that they either love or hate. Believe it or not though, the Smart Watch is here to stay. And most likely in 2014 you will find yourself at the check-out counter excited about your new purchase and about how it will benefit your life.
