The most decadent meal I’ve ever had was a huge New Year’s Eve feast with my husband. It was 2012, and we created our own multi-course tasting menu. We ate Chinese food, which is my husband’s absolute favorite kind. I’ve really grown to love it too. Our third wedding anniversary had passed two months earlier on Halloween, which was a nightmare because of the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
Every time we planned to celebrate with a fancy dinner, something would come up. Therefore, we decided that the year could not come to a close without celebrating another year together. Since we are low-key people, my husband came up with the idea of going to our favorite Chinese restaurant and then going home and watching a movie, followed by watching the New Year’s action in Times Square.
We made reservations and got to the restaurant relatively early. My husband and I chose our favorite dishes: his is General Tso’s chicken, mine is chicken with mixed vegetables. We usually order one appetizer, too. Because this meal was special, my husband surprised me by ordering four additional entrees and four appetizers. So when all was said and done, we had five appetizers and six entrees on the table. It was wonderful!
My husband and I had a wonderful time sampling from our own private buffet right on our table. We had Peking duck, which I had never had. It was succulent. The General Tso’s chicken was spicy and savory. The chicken and mixed vegetables was a terrific dish. We also had beef and broccoli, chicken and broccoli, and a fried rice entrée. For appetizers, we had friend dumplings, seasoned ribs, pineapple beef, won ton soup, and Chinese pizza.
The food was out of this world. We tried everything and it didn’t take long before we were stuffed, so we took home a ton of delicious entrees and appetizers. We had leftovers for days. We had such a happy time and the staff treats every customer like family, which made the experience such a memorable one.
The restaurant we went to was called China Garden Inn in Willow Grove, PA. Our dinner was extravagant because of multiple entrees and appetizers for two. However, the restaurant is not expensive, but it is superior quality cuisine. They serve the best Chinese dishes I’ve ever had, and they even have a delicious fresh sushi bar, too. Their signature drinks are delicious.
The restaurant is in a strip mall, and actually right next to a Bonefish Grill, which in my opinion is an over rated chain restaurant in the Outback family of restaurants. China Garden Inn is a boutique restaurant. It is beautiful inside, and has tile ceilings that are gorgeous. The food and the staff make any meal feel decadent and special.
