Packaging: This vitamin supplement for cats by The Missing Link comes in a foil packet that contains 6 oz of product. This should last a normal sized cat about 3 months of daily use.
Look of the product: Supplement looks like a cross between a powder and a granular substance. It resembles and smells like beef bouillon.
Storage: The vitamin formula has to be kept in the fridge after opening
Dosage: A normal sized cat should get 3/4 teaspoon of the product mixed in with their food each day. I divide the dose into three servings of food.
Kittens up to 5 lbs. feed 1/4 teaspoon per day, 5-9 lb. cat feed 1/2 teaspoon per day, 10-12 lb. cat feed 3/4 teaspoon, over 12 lb. cat feed 1 teaspoon
My thoughts on the product and ingredients: The supplement seemed to have exactly what I was looking for in a cat supplement. I started making my cats food myself because I was tired of spending over $1 can for my cats food. At three small cans a day that added up to $3 a day.
I was able to by chicken at the grocery store with no sodium added so since he seemed to do best on my home cooking I decided to primarily feed him home cooked meats but I needed to find a supplement with taurine and calcium as I was not taking any chances with his health.
My cat Tinkerbelle has multiple health issues and somehow has made it to age 13 and is currently rather healthy but is on a few medications, supplements and premium food to keep him that way.
The Missing Link Ultimate Feline Formula had all the supplements I was looking for and they seemed to get great reviews so I thought I would give it a try.
So far Tinkerbelle has been getting primarily my homemade food with The Missing Link Ultimate Feline Formula and either a little pumpkin or green beans or other veggies. He mostly gets meat I just add the veggies for extra fiber that he needs for his intestinal issues. Cats really do not have any nutritional need for carbohydrates. My vet suggested that we add them to help move things through his digestive tract.
He seems to be doing well with no throwing up or ill effects health wise.
How well Tinkerbelle liked taste and tolerated it: Tink seemed to really like the taste of The Missing Link Ultimate Feline Formula, I gave him a little bit on my finger to see if he would like the taste before I tried it in his food. He seemed attracted to it and licked it off my finger. He has not had any issues not eating the food with the Missing Link mixed in.
So far so good. After nearly a month we have had no vomiting or spitting up the food. He has not refused his food either which is a sign that he is not feeling well. The package and some of the reviews stated that I would see a difference in his coat and amount of shedding. His coat was pretty good before since he was getting premium foods but I do think the shedding has slowed down some. Less shedding would be a plus for me as far as vacuuming it up and also for him because it means less hairballs.
Final Thoughts and Rating
I am giving The Missing Link Ultimate Feline Formula 5 stars because it has everything I wanted in it and the cat likes it. Plus he seems to be doing well on it, so hopefully this will continue to be a regular part of his diet for years to come.
