I wanted to talk about something very important in your online marketing business, and that is the importance of “You, Incorporated.” You may be wondering what I’m talking about. What I’m talking about is, rather than branding your product, company, or service, you are branding yourself. You are your brand. And you may wondering, why would I do that. Let’s say, down the road, you decide for some reason to switch companies, or products, or services, do you want to redo everything that you’ve done for the past several years? Do you want to reinvent who you are? No. Do you want to pretend that you are a product, company, or service, when you could just be you instead? Let’s face it, being yourself is the easiest thing you can be. And your ultimate goal here in online marketing, is to have like minded people attracted to you.
So how are you going to brand yourself with your website? You can start by choosing a domain name that has your name, or something that identifies you. If you’re not comfortable with using your real name, you could use something like “the self made mom,” or “the blueberry pie entrepreneur.” Those are just two examples. In online marketing, we have front end marketing and back end marketing. On the front end, you want to have your attraction marketing going on. You want people to like you for you without even so much as a mentioning of your home based opportunity or your online marketing opportunity. Your back end marketing can be done through getresponse.com. And if you don’t have a getresponse account yet, you want to look into doing that. It’s only $15 or $25 a month. And this is a self hosted, automated, autoresponder account that you own, not your company. Some companies offer their own autoresponder accounts. You want to get your own so that you can brand yourself, and getresponse will allow you to do that.
On the front end, with your blog or your website, you present yourself as a leader and offer the most valuable content you can come up with. The biggest mistakes are that people are focused on selling alone. They lack commitment and they can’t see the bigger picture. All of those things are very important. Your back end autoresponders, like I said, can be done through getresponse.
Okay, now, in order to brand yourself, you’re going to want to come up with a niche. Your niche is what subject you’re going to provide valuable content in. Alright, so valuable content is basically anything enlightening, empowering, educational, or entertaining. You’re going to figure out what is your purpose and passion in life. What do you love? Believe it or not we are all teachers, and there is a topic that you’re very knowledgeable about. You just have to sit down and brain storm and decide what it is you want to spend your time researching and sharing valuable content about. For example, you can take personal development, travel, health and wellness, real estate, sports, or music. Your tagline can be a direct benefit. The purpose of your blog, what you want to create, or basically the overall topic or topics that your posts will be about. So, for instance, your tagline can be something like “Believe it, visualize it, manifest it. Going the distance with online marketing.”
WordPress is a great place where you can get yourself a blog that you can brand yourself with, at wordpress.org. Not wordpress.com because that is hosted by WordPress, so you still don’t own your blog. If you go to wordpress.org and start your own, you will own that blog. It is yours. Okay, no one can take it away. So good luck with your dreams.
