A few nights ago, I decided to purchase and eat one of the Honey BBQ sandwiches available at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurants. As soon as I took one bite of the sandwich, I was glad I purchased it.
Tonight I went back to my neighborhood KFC restaurant and ordered two more of the sandwiches.
Presented here in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article in which the author reviews and examines the Honey BBQ sandwich served at KFC restaurants.
Size
The Honey BBQ Chicken sandwich from KFC restaurants is definitely a good-sized sandwich. A large amount of shredded chicken is generously coated with delicious barbecue sauce, then served on a standard-type sandwich bun.
Price
The regular price charged for one Honey BBQ Chicken sandwich at Hartford, Connecticut area KFC restaurants is approximately $2.49.
Perhaps because I’m used to value menu prices at fast food restaurants, this price seemed a little high to me at first. After seeing the sandwich up close and tasting it, I think it is absolutely worth every penny.
Texture / Consistency
This BBQ chicken sandwich offers a delightful texture, or mouth-feel. The pieces of shredded chicken are intact and appealingly firm, yet at the same time they are soft and moist from the barbecue sauce.
If you do like I did and put some KFC cole slaw on top of the meat in the sandwich, the resulting texture combination of warm/soft and cool/crunchy is fantastic.
Nutritional Facts
Unfortunately, I could not find any nutritional fact information regarding KFC’s Honey BBQ Chicken sandwich at the KFC restaurant or at their web site.
Taste / Flavor
To tell the truth, I was looking forward to writing an article about the Honey BBQ Chicken sandwich from KFC restaurants as soon as I tasted it.
Through the years, I have eaten plenty of BBQ chicken sandwiches, including those served at barbecue restaurants. Most of them have tasted pretty good, but none have tasted as good as the KFC Honey BBQ sandwich that I recently ate.
It seems to me that much of the flavor in the KFC Honey BBQ sandwich comes from the incredible barbecue sauce that coats the shredded chicken meat. The sauce has a deep, slightly sweet flavor that accentuates the chicken admirably. To my tastebuds, it seems like a touch of molasses is present in the sauce.
No exaggeration, this is a mighty good tasting BBQ chicken sandwich. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this sandwich a rating of 9.95, which is about the highest rating I award to any product or item.
Packaging
The first time I purchased a KFC Honey BBQ sandwich, it was served in a largely silver sandwich wrapper. When I purchased two of the sandwiches tonight, each sandwich was served in a white cardboard sandwich box.
Overall Rating
If you’re a fan of barbecue chicken, there’s a good chance you would enjoy eating one of these sandwiches. The Honey BBQ sandwich available at KFC restaurants is actually quite basic; just chicken and barbecue sauce on a bun. But, oh what a lot of flavor there is from these simple ingredients. This sandwich is highly recommended.
