Skateboarding has a lot more to offer than chipped teeth and hairline fractures as it is a healthy physical and metal activity for men and women (regardless of class, race, or gender) as it is for anyone interested in enjoying themselves in a healthy way.
Right off the bat skateboarding is a lot more accepting than most professional sports and activities to stay healthy as a person’s outside interests, age, background, or personal life do not affect their performance on an object that was once considered a toy or a way of commuting to surf spots. Skateboarding has come a long way since its inception and event though it isn’t an Olympic sport (which can also be said about a few other popular sports in the states) it can still be taken seriously or simply for recreation.
Skateboarding mainly focuses on the legs (possibly arms for balance) due to pushing yourself via foot to your given destination. If you plan on investing time to learn tricks on a skateboard it mainly revolves around friction between the grip tape on the board, the rubber material on the shoe’s soles, and the rider’s willpower to not look like a poseur when asked to do a trick. Longboarding is suggested if you plan on skating for recreation because it offers the same leg stimulation as a regular skateboarding (in exception when actually performing tricks.) From experience both are great activities especially longboarding if your heels are bruised or suffering an injury from using a regular skateboard for advanced tricks. Stimulants aren’t really needed for this hobby but I can assure you there’s never been a steroid abuse controversy in the history of skateboarding (but some professional skateboarders have worn weighted shoes to improve performance when off their skateboard.)
Skateboarding is much more acceptable these days as opposed to the days it was associated with anything wrong with society or petty crime when I was growing up (which couldn’t be further from the truth when it comes to the activity.) Yes, in some areas you might have a better chance being Kevin Bacon trying to find a place to dance in Footloose than pushing on a skateboard through a parking lot, but, as skateboarding gains social acceptance as a positive activity the future is looking great. If you’re a concerned parent (reading this article) that is still not sold on skateboarding and the benefits of the activity I will gladly give you my personal experience of the matter. I found skateboarding at an early age when kids began experimenting with drugs and as I write this article all of those friends that pursued drugs have passed away from overdoses. Thankfully myself and my other skate buddies are still alive and in shape, being lucky enough to share how much we loved skateboarding with others as the area that removed their outdoor skatepark has (coincidentally) had a blossoming drug problem ever since. Long story short, let your lil’ Kevin Bacons dance on the board because I did and this is an article I’m writing for Yahoo which goes by the name YHOO if you’re interested in the Stock Market. I guess I turned out alright 3 mohawks later.
