The GOP is Obsessed with Combatting the Democrat’s Desire of Aiding the 99%

by yak max

The article “Government Layoffs Have Been Undermining The Recovery For Five Years” demonstrates that the GOP mercilessly causes people to lose their careers and then use that as a cudgel to attack our President.

Our President’s economic policies have been generating jobs. We’ve lost jobs, but not in the private sector, where as the article states “the private sector has added 3.5 million jobs on net.” The GOP decided to cut public sector jobs in President Obama’s term even though in other terms they added them.

It is so ironic when you hear the GOP hypocrites complain about the jobless recovery. The GOP intentionally ruined many lives as the article states “the public sector shed 743,000 jobs”.

Why? How can this happen? The article demonstrates the magnitude of this as it states “While the public sector cuts undermining the Obama recovery are unprecedented, they are not hard to explain. Austerity policies at the state and federal level gave rise to the worst three-year run on record for public sector job growth.”

Austerity policies don’t work. In our country we struggled through a Depression. We struggled through it by doing the opposite of austerity. When FDR wanted to help the economy he pumped federal money into the system as his WPA program added jobs for the unemployed. Conservative Republicans didn’t support the WPA programs.

What can be the reason for this? This is a country that mouths phrases of love and compassion for each other.

The article “All the Good Things Have Been Taken” by the Plutocrats” details that the GOP’s fondest desire is to convert our dear land into a plutocracy.

Echoing this is the article “The GOP Doesn’t Care that Their Policies Hurt the Bottom 99% as Long as the Richest Get Their Tax Cuts” which details that actions speak louder than words and the GOP’s policies hurt the 99%. This article vilifies the GOP for their recalcitrance against extending jobless benefits. The article was published in November of 2010. They are again on the wrong side of history as they are doing it now.

I am an aging hippy bleeding heart. You don’t get much more leftist than being a former Social Worker. We live in a melting pot in which every group has to be treated fairly. My roots are in Ireland. Irish Immigrants were discriminated against and had to fight for economic and social justice. My grandfather was a member of the Molly Maquires. He organized to improve coal mining in Northeast Pennsylvania. He was assassinated for his role. I often wonder how my life would have been enriched if I ever met him. I don’t wish this on anyone. All ethnic, racial, sexual orientation and gender groups are confronted with similar resistance. We all identified with the problems of other groups and offered them our support. We have all reached our goals eventually, but we have had to battle GOP’s policies that remove jobs and harm the unemployed to do so.

There is no excuse for the GOP’s policies of shafting the 99% in this period of our country’s development.
