I have had the chance to travel quite a bit for both work and pleasure, sometimes both. Some of the places I have been to include: India, Brazil, Sweden, France, Italy, Mexico and Wapakoneta, OH. I have found some things are important to have and some things just take up space. Here is a list of the four most important travel gadgets to own that are not named “Smartphone.”
I know that there is a Kindle app on smartphones, but this stand-alone device is worth the mention. It keeps thousands of books to read at any time. If you finish one book, you can start another in an instant. My wife would love to bring 10 different books when we went to the beach, and the back of the car would be full of books. With a Kindle, I now get to pack all the DVD’s I want to watch at the beach, oh wait, there is Amazon Prime Instant Video for that.
2. Noise-Canceling Headphone
I have spent many nights in a hotel room where I am next to the elevator and have been awoken by late night ringing of the elevator bell. I have also been on many flights that I hear nothing but people talking, babies crying and loud conversations. Noise-canceling headphones remove the sound and let you sleep or focus while you travel.
3. Universal Adaptor
I have been unable to charge my phone/computer/ other electronic devises while in different parts of the world. One time my wife was trying to get a hold of me, but I had turned off my phone because the battery was low. The next morning, I had many voicemails on my phone with fear of what happened to me. Do yourself a favor; make sure you have a Universal Adaptor.
4. Neck Pillow With Vibration
I cannot begin to mention how many times I have woken up the morning after I had been flying and I cannot move my neck, because I strained it the day before because I was trying to sleep on a plane. The neck pillow provides support and if you get the massage option, you get a relaxing nap without the neck pain that follows.
Having spent many years traveling, if I have to pack my bag, the four items above will be included. The last item that you must always bring with you when traveling is a bathing suit. If you bring it with you, you know why.
