This season of “The Bachelor” is said to be one of the most controversial seasons in the shows history. Now even though they say this just about every season, many fans and critics are agreeing that this season’s bachelor, Juan Pablo, made a decision that was one of the strangest and most ungentlemanly in the shows history. Many fans of the show are upset at how he handled dumping Clare, and how Nikki never got a proposal, or even an “I love you” from the bachelor. A lot of people think he is the worst bachelor that they have ever had on the show.
Fans split it down the middle when it came to team Nikki and team Clare, but no one really seemed to know who Juan Pablo would end up picking at the end of the season. ABC kept everyone on the edge of their seats for the length of the show and even more so towards the end of the season when it came down to the final three. They showed clips of a lot of drama and a lot of tears and it seemed that Juan Pablo would end up choosing no one at the end.
Here’s my opinion. I don’t think he handled some of the situations right. Like with Clare. He didn’t look at all bothered by the fact that he didn’t choose her to propose to, nor did he seem bothered to send her home. Usually at the end of the show when it comes down to the final two, the bachelor is really torn up and has a really hard time choosing between the two women that are left. This season, Juan Pablo didn’t show that much conflict between the two that were left and unlike other seasons, the show didn’t air him picking out a ring, or getting ready for the proposal day like it usually does. I thought that was a little strange. Then at the proposal spot, they filmed him with an engagement ring which made it look like he would propose to someone. I knew right away that Clare wasn’t the one he chose because she was sent out to meet him first. I don’t think he had the right words to tell her about why he was breaking it off so I was very happy over the way she handled the breakup.
I don’t think he made a wrong decision with not proposing to Nikki because he does have a daughter to think about. I mean if it were me I would definitely have a lot more time with a potential spouse and see how they would interact with my kids before I proposed. On the other hand, Nikki already met his daughter, twice. The thing that I didn’t like was the fact that when the show was done airing and when they came public on “After the Final Rose,” he didn’t even say he loved Nikki, only that he liked her a lot. They had four months together after the show was done filming, plus all the time they were together on the show, so I think everyone was expecting them to at least be in love or a possible proposal on live TV. But again that didn’t happen. The only thing that was still true was the fact that Nikki was in love with him. How embarrassing for her to not get that kind of love in return!
The current news on the couple is their first public date which seemed to go pretty good. I do like Nikki, but I honestly do not see them working out and I really don’t think she is ready to take on the “motherly” role to a step daughter. I guess time will tell.
