Remember the days as a kid when you went on family vacations? Carefree fun at the beach chasing hermit crabs and battling surf tides. Not a worry in the world.
Vacation days are different as an adult. Especially in these challenging economic times. Now you are responsible for paying for those vacations if you want to go on them. Bills are steadily knocking on your door each month insisting that you pay them off. How will you be able to take your family on vacations like the ones you had as a child?
Now think about life as a travel blogger. If you want to make money as a travel blogger then you will need to figure out how you are going to travel. The good news is that you can travel on almost any budget. Here are four ways to determine your travel budget.
Decide how you want to travel- hotel, camping, etc. The two most expensive costs when going on vacation or accommodations and airfare. Therefore, it is best to start with these two. Obviously, hotels are going to be more expensive than if you were to go camping. Those who travel RV style can also face heavy gas prices and other additional costs. All of these must be considered when determining your travel budget.
Save on costs where you can. There are many software programs and online research for you to take advantage of when determining how to save money for travel. If you can avoid taking an airplane, for example, that will save you a lot of money that you can put towards other things on vacation. Also, instead of eating out at restaurants every day. It is a good idea to carry a cooler with snacks and supplies to make sandwiches. I have found this incredibly useful when checking into hotels that didn’t have grocery stores nearby. Not knowing the area, I was reluctant to get out to find a grocery store and therefore spent too much money on room service. With just a little planning ahead, you can avoid this, and by food that is a lot less expensive.
Plan a trip according to your budget to determine how much you can do and where you can go. Your travel budget will determine where you can go. Obviously, you wouldn’t be able to travel overseas. If your budget was only $500. On the other hand, you could go to a nearby city, check into a hotel overnight, and visit a water park for less than that amount. Your travel plans are dictated by your travel budget.
Take day trips to save a ton of money on travel. It isn’t required to stay overnight some place. Just a day trip to a nearby city is considered a travel experience. Taking notes on how the food, culture, events and scenery can make for a great travel blog feature.
It is possible to be a travel blogger on a small budget. It may require some creative thinking but that can be a great thing. After all, many families are in the same boat trying to balance the demands of paying bills with their desire to go on vacation. You could be the catalyst that shows them how they can fulfill their vacation dreams on any budget.
