The solar system includes several components that work together to ensure there is maximum power production in your home. All these components should be installed as part of your solar system in your home. The four main basic components include solar panels, charge controller, batteries and power inverter.
Solar panels are the main parts of a solar system installation. These panels consist of photovoltaic cells that take in sun’s energy and convert it to electrical power. There are three main types of solar panels namely monocrystalline, polycrystalline and amorphous panels. Monocrystalline are more expensive as well as more efficient that polycrystalline panels. Amorphous panels are easier and flexible to work with compared to poly and monocrystalline panels. The solar panels should be installed in places that they get the maximum exposure to sunlight every day.
Charge controller is essential for regulating the amount of voltage that goes into your batteries and also prevent you batteries from discharging during the night. Charge controller enables more current to flow when the battery has low charge and also stops current flowing if the battery is overcharged. Charge controller prevents battery damage by preventing the fluctuating charge when the battery is connected directly to the solar panel.
The batteries are used to store electricity energy that after it’s converted from solar energy by solar panels. Batteries or bank of batteries are essential because the solar panels cannot be able to store electrical energy on their own. When you have reliable batteries you can store enough electrical energy to ensure that you have a stable supply of power even when there is no sunlight. Deep cycle batteries works bests with solar panels since you can recharge and discharge them several times. You can wire batteries together to provide high power storage capacity. Choose batteries that will be able to store all the energy produced by your solar panels.
Power inverts are used to convert DC power to AC power so that is can be more useful to your home. There are two main types of inverters, namely pure sine wave power and modified sine wave. You will need an inverter if your appliances are designed to run on AC power. The most suitable inverter your home is pure sine wave power. Power output from pure sine wave power inverter is same as power provided by utility companies. Some appliances may fail or even get damaged when connected to modified sine wave inverter.
