The Best Vegan Restaurants in Los Angeles

by yak max

Veganism in L.A. is growing quick enough that, in addition to restaurants that serve vegan-only meals, many other restaurants are adding non-animal food selections to accommodate vegans.

Here are my favorite and moderately priced vegan restaurants or restaurants that serve meals for vegans.

Sun Café

Address: 3711 Cahuenga Blvd. West

Studio City, CA 91604

Hours: Mon-Sat11am-10pm & Sun 10am-10pm

Website: www.suncafe.com

Phone: (818) 308-7420

If you’re not vegan already, you will consider it when you try this place. For an organic, mostly raw and vegan cuisine spot, Sun Café menu items are flavorful.

While most of the menu items are small portions, you should start off with the Sun Nacho appetizer, half-and-half jicama and blue chips. It’s a huge starter serving and you won’t stop picking on it even after you get your meal.

The salads are much better than the typical. I believe they outdo their salads because it’s supposed to be typical and a bunch of green stuff. Not at Sun Café. You can’t go wrong no matter what salad you order.

I’m not a big fan of Portobello, but when Sun Café makes this mushroom sandwich I’m suspicious it’s meat. This place marinates the Portobello and grills them to perfection. Other popular menu items are the Lettuce Leaf Taco and the BLT. The imitation bacon really tastes like bacon.

A must-try is the Kale Shake. Sun Café blends this delicious smoothie with banana and agave.

Veggie Grill

West Hollywood Address:

8000 W Sunset Blvd

Los Angeles, CA 90046

Website: http://www.veggiegrill.com

Phone: (323) 822-7575

Everybody needs a little fast food once in a while, but vegetarian fast food? There are many Veggie Grill’s in the nation, but just because it’s a chain don’t let it fool you to think it’s average, or less than. I was desperate to find another all vegetarian restaurants that is within walking distance from my place in Hollywood. I didn’t want to go through putting another server through the inquisition: Can you make it with soy chicken? Do you use vegetable oil? Are you sure the fake cheese is not less than mediocre? You get the idea.

This place has mixed reviews. You just have to know what suits your taste buds. If you’re a kale fan, you will not go wrong with the All Hail Kale salad. Totally delish! Many returning patrons are fans of the Veggie Grill’s Chicken Taco, Buffalo Wings, and the Santa Fe Crispy Chicken Salad.

Southern California has over 15 Veggie Grill locations, more than triple the amount of locations when compared to other cities that have Veggie Grills. Not hard to believe as demand for all vegetarian in L.A. continues to climb.

The Vegan House

Address: 1717 N Wilcox Ave

Hollywood, CA 90028

Hours: Mon-Sun 11am-10pm

Website: www.myveganhouse.com Phone number
: (323) 962-6195

I think my bathroom is bigger than this place, that’s why I’m glad The Vegan House delivers. But every once in a while us vegans have to deal with our non-vegan buddies and how food selective they are with their carnivore must-have palate. I take them to this Thai American hot spot.

My guests are always amazed at the Chicken Nuggets. The dish is one of my favorites too. I usually can’t share them. Equally amazing is the Pad See Ew with soy chicken. You almost can’t wrong with the mentioned food items. However, not everything was too my liking but I’d still keep going back.
