If you enjoy Chinese or Asian take out food as much as I do, you know that it can get costly. You can still enjoy those same foods without it costing you a fortune by cooking up some of these recipes in you own kitchen. It can be fun making your own egg rolls or egg drop soup, involve you spouse or the kids and make it a family effort, it is a great way to spend some quality time with your loved ones.
Effortless Egg Rolls – Egg rolls are right up there at the top of my list of favorite Chinese takeout food. I have made them at home on several occasions but I will admit that they always seem to be better when ordered at one of my favorite restaurants. That is until now, this recipe will have you asking yourself what took you so long to make your own egg rolls because they are that good and that easy. You will have to find yourself a good dipping sauce in the Asian aisle at your local supermarket or you can try this recipe from one of my favorite websites. Quick Egg Roll Dipping Sauce
Fortune Cookies – If you are anything like me, the best part of dinning out for Asian food it the fortune cookie at the end. I love the taste of these simple cookies and reading the fortune is always fun. I sometimes wonder after reading them, if I had pick a different cookie, would I have gotten that same fortune or is there really magic and they are designed just for you? Either way, way not make these cookies at home, your family and friends will love have a traditional cookie that is homemade and taste so much fresher. You can have so much fun thinking up the different fortunes that you will put inside them.
Chinese Takeout -on-a-Stick – Chicken and broccoli is a dish that I really enjoy, I feel that it is a much lighter choice and definitely a healthier choice and these days, who couldn’t use some healthier choices? Pairing these with sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, crushed red pepper and ginger root sets these kabobs off with and traditional flavor. Making them at home allows you to cut the chicken in the size you like best and you will certainly save money by making them in your own kitchen, and by the way, there is nothing wrong with asking your family and friends to tip the cook!!
Instant Fried Rice – Fried rice, this is a must have when ordering your take out foods and my favorite over the typical white rice. This recipe is designed to be fast, delicious and fuss-free! Using a prepackaged seasoning mix for the fried rice seasoning you only need to add in a few other ingredients along with you cooked white rice and peas and you have yourself a fried rice that will hold its own to any restaurant dish that you have had. There is a wonderful satisfaction when I serve my family a dish that I made myself that they think taste as good if not better than the take out we usually order.
Quick Egg Drop Soup – I recently made this soup and was once again amazed at how quick and easy it was to make this soup. I took it a step further because that is what I do, I love to switch up recipes and believe me, it drives my family and friends crazy! But all I hear is how delicious my food is so thank goodness I take the time to drive them crazy. You can make this dish as it is designed or if you want to switch it up, add in some fresh spinach leaves and you can even put in a little Miso paste which gives it a wonderful flavor.
I hope that you enjoy my picks for Take Out Recipes from Home, take a look at them, I am sure you will find something that you like and your family just may welcome something new on the dinner table.
