I enjoy being healthy! As a part of my health program my kitchen cabinet stays stocked with a variety of spices and seasons. I do research on foods and spices to determine their health benefits in order to promote my physical and mental well being! I hope you will too!!
I’m a vegetarian so I don’t eat fish, but for your consideration I’ve included Salmon. Omega-3 fatty acids are known to reduce inflammation. Salmon is an omega-3 fatty acid food that provides the body with that benefit!
This bright yellow spice is sure to make any dish colorful! Contained in turmeric is a compound known as cur cumin. Studies have revealed that cur cumin may decrease inflammation.
I use turmeric in a variety of dishes such as stir fries, soups and hot cereals; my body feels the difference! You might be thinking “hot cereals?” but yes I sprinkle turmeric on cream of wheat and oatmeal along with honey. It’s great!
It’s been confirmed; this incredible tasty root plays a part in reducing inflammation. I love the smell of ginger; it’s so wonderfully potent! I’ve tried ginger in soups (absolutely grand!) stir fries, rice and beans and other dishes.
I enjoy cinnamon on toast, hot cereals and coffee! Studies have proven that cinnamon alleviates arthritis pain and swelling.
Garlic is one of my all time favorite seasons! It’s a natural anti- biotic and also a blood thinner. It makes foods taste delicious! Garlic’s natural benefit of easing the pain of inflammation has also been proven.
Cayenne is one spice I’ve yet to try. I don’t particularly enjoy hot spices, but it has been shown to reduce the swelling and pain associated with arthritis.
I like to spice many of my favorite dishes with a “little” black pepper. It too can aid in the alleviation of arthritic pain and swelling.
