A small hallway might seem like nothing more than a passageway that leads from one room to the next, but it can be much more than a basic corridor. It can be a showplace and an impressive part of the home. In many houses the undefined area is used as a family gallery, but the narrow space is not ideal for displaying pictures of any type. They will be out of the way, and they will likely go unnoticed. Consider these wall decor options for a smaller than average hall, and transform it into a stylish and inspiring part of your home.
Trim a Door with Dimensional Decor
When decorating a small or narrow hallway, consider dimensional decor instead of something flat. Unlike framed photos, embellishments that stand out will be seen from every angle while beautifully adding color and design to the space. Consider buying dozens of contemporary metal butterflies, paper hearts or any array of raw metal flower sculptures that will add dimension and decorative appeal. Trim the area around the most prominent doorway, and attach them in a way that makes them appear to be scattered across the hallway wall.
Consider a Gorgeous Tree Decal
Wall decals are also ideal decor for a small hallway wall. Consider a silhouette of a tree either with or without birds. Apply it next to a doorway with limbs stretching above and beyond it. Add dimension by securing faux leaves of the appropriate size to the branches. Pins with matching heads make phenomenal attachments. Birds in flight can be added just beyond the tree. The peel-and-stick decor and fabric leaves will add a touch of color and realism to the display. They will also draw more attention to the hall. If you would still like to decorate the space with framed photos, hang them over the branches.
Hang Matching Mirrors Across from Each Other
Mirrors can be used to visually widen or lengthen a small or narrow hall. To make it appear longer, hang a large unframed mirror at the end. Make it appear wider by hanging two mirrors across from each other in between doorways. If the area is light and bright, the space will appear larger and airier. It will also look just as stylish as other areas of the home.
