CBS Blu-ray brings us the final voyages to “Where No Man Has Gone Before” with “Star Trek: Enterprise Season Four.” The 6-disc set collects all 22 episodes of Captain Archer and his crew’s last adventures in deep space. The canceling of the show was a traumatic blow to fans worldwide, but now they can find solace in knowing they own every chapter of the interstellar saga.
Captain Jonathan Archer and the crew of the Enterprise face several obstacles in their journey to establish the groundwork for the United Federation of Planets. They find themselves trying to avoid forces intent on altering history and being transported into a “mirror” dimension. Dealings with familiar aliens and settings foreshadow what’s to come for the next team of adventurers who will man the great starship Enterprise.
“Star Trek: Enterprise Season Four” is presented in 1080p High-Definition with an aspect ratio of 16×9. The picture is clean and will please viewers who only saw these in network broadcasts. Colors are vibrant with very little visual issues to speak of besides some light banding.
A 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mix surrounds the audience of “Star Trek: Enterprise Season Four” in a barrage of cacophonic sound effects. You’re home theater will have you thinking you’ve truly ventured out into space as the noise of explosions and laser blasts fly by your head. The musical score and clarity of dialogue complete the superior experience.
“Star Trek: Enterprise Season Four” comes with a nice batch of bonus material. Two featurettes entitled “In Conversation: Writing ‘Star Trek: Enterprise'” and “Before Her Time: Decommissioning Enterprise” are found. Select episodes include newly recorded audio commentaries. There are also deleted scenes for select episodes. Archival mission logs and commentaries are featured as well.
Packed full of familiar faces like Brent Spiner and Peter Weller, “Star Trek: Enterprise Season Four” is a strong close for the series. Many enthusiasts feel it ended much too soon. Franchise lovers can now journey into the future and visit Captain Archer and his spirited shipmates whenever they want to with this Blu-ray set.
