I recently finished planning my spring break vacation. I found a great, inexpensive hotel steps from the beach. While the kids play in the sand, I hope my husband and I have some time to relax. Whether I am walking along the beach, dining out, or going to a local hangout, I plan on being fashionable. Here are some great spring break outfits for vacations, staycations and just about anywhere.
Beach Bum Fashion
In college, I lived a few miles from the beach for three years. A girl can get used to that. Unfortunately, I became so accustomed to wearing beach clothing that I was itching to wear flip flops and t-shirts year round. Thus, for spring break, I’ll return to my college days and wear beach dresses. A loose fitting black tank dress can be thrown over a bathing suit but is nice enough to wear for lunch too. In the evening, I’ll add a light sweater and some fashionable sandals. I’m loving these Billabong crossing over sandals in mint.
The Outdoor Enthusiast
I realize not everyone goes to the beach for spring break. If you’re planning to go hiking or camping, there are some great fashionable outdoorsy outfits for you too. Look for clothing with moisture wicking material. Athleta has plenty of fashionable clothing for hiking such as these Bettona Jeggings in black heather. Pair it with a bright breathable tee and, if the weather is going to be wet, a water resistant jacket. Of course, don’t forget good running or hiking shoes.
Going Out on the Town
If you are in a more tropical setting, a beautiful maxi dress is an easy way to look stunning while dining on the oceanfront. I like the way this maxi bra top dress from Victoria’s Secret drapes. Pair it with some delicate metallic sandals for a nighttime look. If you don’t like long dresses, then try this La Luna dress from Roxy with some platform sandals.
A Great Swimsuit
A great swimsuit is essential for many spring break trips or hanging out poolside. Pick a swimsuit that has good support and is comfortable so you are not constantly adjusting your suit. Halters or bathing suits with underwires help keep “things” in place. For greater coverage, try this firm control retro one-piece from Victoria’s Secret. Also, don’t forget a swim coverup made from light material (like this button-down muslin shirt from Aerie) and some non-slip flip flops.
I’ve done plenty of staycations in the suburbs. Going to the pool, exploring nature, making popsicles and dining locally are typical events for my staycation. I love feeling comfortable on my vacation so I stock up on soft, lightweight tees in a multitude of colors like this Aerie Slim Fit V-neck pocket shirt. I also love tanks with lace details. For cooler days, I might wear a baseball tee with 3/4 sleeves. Pair it with some corduroy shorts or, for a flirty look, pair a t-shirt with this Esplanade skirt from JCrew in seersucker eyelet along with some canvas sneakers. For those unexpected rainy days when you want to lounge around and watch a movie, be comfy yet fashionable in these cropped skinny sweatpants.
Whether you go to the beach, the lake or stick around town, one of these spring break outfits will help you look great no matter where you go!
