This writer has completed 39 days of training using three Spartacus workout DVDs which were the Ab attack, 30-minute total body blitz, and the 29-minute triple-set scorcher. The writer started this program on April 2, 2014 and weighed 197 pounds. I am 5 feet 8 1/2 inches tall. I worked out using the videos five days a week. For a period of two weeks during the month of April I worked out using the Spartacus video two times a day.
The first video, and primary video used in my experiment was the ab attack video. This video claims to provide people with a decrease in fat in the abdomen area of the body. The primary focus of the video is to incorporate the core or middle section of the body throughout the workout. The workout lasts about 33 minutes, in which you exercise for 40 seconds and rest for 40 seconds. There is also a five minute “finisher” after the 33 minutes which makes the workout last for about 38 minutes, the writer rarely completed the extra 5 minutes.
The second and third Spartacus videos that the writer used were alternated between the ab attack video. So the workout schedule went typically like this: Monday was ab attack, Tuesday was 30-minute total-body blitz, Wednesday was ab attack, Thursday was triple-set scorcher, Friday was ab attack, and this pattern was followed for a period of 39 days. The total-body blitz involved a workout circuit that included 10 exercises in which you work out for 20 seconds and rest for 40 seconds. The triple-set scorcher had a pattern in which you exercise for 40 seconds and rest for 20 seconds with a warm-up round and two rounds of three exercises.
To be honest the writer also engaged in qi-gong exercises 5 days a week for about 20 minutes a day, and yoga 5 days a week for about 20 minutes a day. The reason I mention qi-gong, and yoga is because they burn calories and might be considered workouts. With that said, the writer weighed in at 189 pounds on May 1, 2014, and has maintained that weight for a period of 28 days with only 39 days of exercise. In other words, the writer lost eight pounds, and has maintained that weight loss with 39 days of following three Spartacus workouts for five days a week.
The results for the writer demonstrate that the claims of the Spartacus videos hold validity. I have lost weight, especially around the abdomen area and I have maintained those changes for a period of time. I found these workouts to be engaging, and challenging but not overly challenging.
